Lesson Plan 5 WEEK 31 Monday, April 26th 2021 S: 5AT4; C: 5BT2 Period 121 UNIT 18: WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TOMORROW? Lesson 2: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able able to ask and answer questions about the seasons - Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review - Practice skill: Listening, writing. - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures. B. Procedure. I. Warm up. * Chatting Ex: Where do you live? I live How many seasons are there in a year? There are ......... What are they? They’re .......... What’s your favourite season? I like ......... What’s summer like? It’s usually .. - T asks, Ss answer. II. Listen and write one word in the each blank. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen and write one word in each blank. - Ask Ss to read sentences and try to guess the best answers. - Play the recording more than one for Ss to listen and complete the sentences. Do the task and check their answer. - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class. - T gives feedback. *Answer: 1.wind 2.winter 3.snow 4.rain III. Write about your favourie season and the weather. - Tell Ss that they are going to write about your favourie season and weather - Have them work in pairs to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently. Let’s sing. - Tell Ss that they are going to sing: The weather song. - Get Ss to read line of the lyrics. Play the recording all the way through. - Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line. - Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song. - Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the activity V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise. - Have Ss do exercise E of unit 18 in workbook - T corrects and feedback VI. Lesson 3: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to Say questions and answers with the correct intonation. Listen and read for specific information - Language focus: + Stress: sentences + Vocabularies: Review + Sentence patterns: - Phonetic: What will the weather be like tomorrow? It will be hot and sunny. What’s spring like in your country? It’s usually cold and windy. - Practice skill: Listening, writing and speaking chant. - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures and tape. B. Procedures. I. Warm up: Chatting - The class chatting What’s summer like? It’s usually .. II. Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct internation - Put the sentences on the board. Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat a few times. - Play the recording a few times and let Ss say the words and phrases, paying attention to the target sounds. - Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds. Call Ss repeat again. III. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen and circle a or b to answer the questions. - Play the recording more than once for Ss listen. - Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Have Ss to read the chant check their comprehension. - Give Ss time to do the game. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Call some Ss to read aloud the chant . V. Lesson 3: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to practice reading and writing about the seasons and weather. - Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review - Practice skill: Reading, writing, speaking . - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures, tape. B. Procedure. I. Warm up. Let’s chant - Have class chant II. Read and do the tasks. a, Complete the passage - Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and match them with the headings. - Ask Ss look at and read sentences first and then read the text and focus on the information they need to do the task. Ss work in pairs. - Give time to do the task independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Key: 1 south 2 November 3 picnic 4. season 5. wind b. Answer the questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to read the passage again and aswer the questions - Ask Ss look at and read sentences first and then read the text and focus on the information they need to do the task. Have Ss read the informatons first, then write the answering. - Have them work in pairs to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call some Ss to read their writing aloud. Project. - Tell Ss that they are going to work in groups and put words for foods and drinks into the appropriate groups: wery healthy and not very healthy. - Ask them to work in groups. Give time limit for them to do the task. - Ss report the results of their interviews to the class. V. Colour the stars. - Have Ss read the statements and check their comprehension. - Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few pupils to read the statements aloud. - Give further support to Ss who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives. (- If there is not enough time, ask Ss to do it as homework.) VI. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise : - Have Ss do exercise F of unit 18 in workbook - T corrects and feedback. VII. Period 124 Lesson 1: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about which place someone would like to visit, using Which place - Language focus: + Vocabularies: museum, pogoda, bridge, temple, park, market, history, theatre + Sentence patterns: Which place would you like to visit, ... or ...? I’d like to visit ... - Practice skill: listening and speaking, Work in pairs/ groups, Discuss. - Resources: Student’s book, poster, pictures and workbook. B. Procedure. I. Warm up. Chatting The class play game:Slap the board, using the wordsThen make sentences with the words. II. Look, Listen and repeat. - Tell pupils that they are going to read and listen to a story. - Have Ss to look at four pictures to discuss the context in which the language is used and ask them questions such as: Who are they? Where are they?What are they talking about? - Play the recording a few times for Ss to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, poiting to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat. - Write model sentence on the board. A: Which place would you like to visit, Nha Trang or Hue? B: I’d like to visit ... - Ss listen and repeat again. (T – Ss , Ss –T, Ss – Ss ,open pairs – close pairs) III. Point and say. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 7 - Lesson Plan 5 about visiting a place of interest. - Have Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used. - Teach some vocabulary: museum, pogoda, bridge, temple, park, market, history, theatre. - Ask Ss to listen and repeat more times the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same produce with the rest of pictures. - Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check Ss’ mistake when necessary. - Write the questions and answer on the board and Ss to repeat again. Ex: A: Which place would you like to visit, ... or ...? B: I’d like to visit ... IV. Let’s talk. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about the place they would like to visit. - Get them to work in groups of four and remind them to use the questions and answers in this section. Ss do choral and individual repetition. - Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. - T writes them on the board. - Ask students read again, Call some students read aloud. Ex: Which place would you like to visit, ... or ...? I’d like to visit ... Is it far from here? Yes/ No .. How can I get there? You can .. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise - Have Ss do exercise part B of unit 19 in workbook - T corrects and feedback VI.
