WEEK 9 Monday, October 31th 2022 C: 3CT1; 3AT2; 3BT3 Period: 33 UNIT 5: MY HOBBIES Lesson 3 (4,5,6) A. OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Read a communicative context and complete a table about hobbies. - Read and complete gapped sentences with personal information. - Reinforce and extend pupils’ language knowledge and competences by making a hobby show. - Vocabulary: Review - Sentense pattner: Review 2. Skills: Speaking, listening, reading and writing. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: Tell the truth about feelings and emotions. - Diligence: Complete learning tasks. 4. Competence: - Critical Thinking: Self-introduce - Co-operation: Ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Self-control and independent learning: Perform listening tasks. B. RESOURCES AND MATERIAL: - Pupil’s book Page 39 - Teacher’s guide Pages 71,72 - Website sachmem - Flashcards/pictures and posters (Unit 5 - Lesson 3: 4,5,6) - Computer, projector C. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Game: Matching *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - T divides class into 2 teams - Ss in 2 teams take turn to open the boxes to match the questions and answers to their pictures (open: click the numbers -close: click the red signs). - Ss of each team will get points if their matching is correct. - Review hobbies: painting, cooking, running, walking, singing, swimming. - Let’s open your book page 39 and look at Unit 5, Lesson 3 (4,5,6) II. Read and tick: *Aims: Ss will be able to read a communicative context and complete a table about hobbies. *Procedure: - Tell pupils about the activity. Pupils should read the communicative context in silence, pay attention to the sentences and complete the table by ticking the correct boxes. - Give the class time to do the task. Circulate round the classroom during the activity and offer help where necessary. - Check the answers as a class. Get pupils to swap and correct their answers in pairs. - Invite pairs of Ss to stand up and say the characters’ hobby. - Give feedback. - Key: *Outcome: Pupils can read a communicative context and complete a table about hobbies. III. Let’s write. *Aims: Ss will be able to read and complete gapped sentences with personal information. *Procedure: - Explain to the class the goal of this activity. Show them how to complete the task. - Ask Ss to read each gapped sentence, guess the missing information and complete the sentence with their own personal information. - Give pupils time to write their answers. Circulate round the classroom during the activity and offer help where necessary. - Ask pupils to swap and correct their answers in pairs. Check the answers as a class. - If time allows, invite a pupil to stand up and read his / her completed sentences. Key: Pupils’ answer. *Outcome: Pupils can read and complete gapped sentences with their personal information. IV. Project. *Aims: Ss will be able to reinforce and extend pupils’ language knowledge and competences by making a hobby show. *Procedure: - Explain the goal of this activity to Ss - Point at the picture and explain what they should do to complete the project. - Tell Ss to work in groups. - Give the class time to complete the project by drawing three pictures showing their hobbies - Invite some Ss go to the board and perform their hobbies. - Have a class display of pupils’ products and have them vote for the most interesting ones. *Outcome: Pupils can show the drawings of their hobbies and tell the class about them. V. Fun corner and wrap-up. *Aims: Ss will be able consolidate and wrap up the content of the lesson by game. *Procedure: Game: Passing the ball - T lets the pupils sit in a circle and turn on the music. When the music stops, the one with the ball will say 1 hobby using I like ____./ It’s____. - The next one can’t say the same word as before. Wrap-up - Ask Ss to answer the following questions: + What have you learnt from the lesson today? +What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the lesson). - Review the vocabulary and model sentences. VI. Game: Whispering *Aims: to review the vocabulary and structure about greet and respond to greetings. *Procedure: - Divide class into 2 groups. - Ask 5 Ss in each group stand in a straight line. - T says a word or phrase to the first pupil in this line. - Then, the first pupil whispers what she/ he hear to the second person in line; the second one whispers what he/ she hears to the third one and so on until the last pupil in group hears the word or phrase. - The last pupil says the word or phrase out loud. - The faster group has correct word or phrase is the winner. - Let’s open your book page 40 and look at Review 1 (3,4,5) II. Listen and tick. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen to and understand five communicative contexts *Procedure: - Elicit the names of the characters in each picture and what they say. - Ask Ss to guess the answers and writes Ss’guessing on the board. - Play the recording for Ss listen. - Play the recording again for pupils to do the task. - Get Ss to swap books with their partners. - Play the recording again to check their answers together as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board.
