WEEK 3 Monday, September 19th 2022 C: 3CT1; 3AT2; 3BT3 Period: 9 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 3 (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Read four sentences and choose the correct responses about the topic “Greetings and goodbye”. - Read, understand and complete three exchanges with their personal information about the topic “Greetings and goodbye”. - Vocabulary: Review - Sentense pattner: Review 2. Skills: Listening, reading, writing and speaking. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: tell the truth about feelings and emotions. - Diligence: complete learning tasks. 4. Competence: - Critical Thinking: self-introduce - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Self-control and independent learning: perform listening tasks. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. B. RESOURCES AND MATERIAL: - Pupil’s book Page 15 - Teacher’s guide Pages 26,27 - Website sachmem - Flashcards/pictures and posters (Unit 1 - Lesson 3: 4,5,6) - Computer, projector C. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Game: “Nought and crosses” *Aims: to review the vocabulary and structure about greet and respond to greetings. *Procedure: - T helps ss to review the vocabulary and structure about greet and respond to greetings, using “How are you? and fine, thank you. - T introduces how to play game. - T reviews structure before play game. - T guides Ss play game: - Divide class into 2 groups. - T gives Ss to watch the picture. - T will ask “How are you?” and Ss will answer - Ss have correct answers, they will get a nought or cross and choose the way so that they win. - The group has more correct answers that will be the winner and get a flower. - T gives feedback. - Let’s open your book page 15 and look at Unit 1, Lesson 3 (4,5,6). II. Read and circle. *Aims: Ss will be able to read four sentences and choose the correct responses. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the first sentence. Tell them about the activity. - Get pupils to read the first number together as a class. Elicit the answer and give feedback. - Give pupils time to do the task. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Tell pupils to swap books with a partner, then check answers together as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to correct their answers. - Invite some pair to stand up and role play - Key: 1. b 2. a 3. a 4.b *Outcome: Ss can read four sentences and choose the correct responses. III. Let’s write. *Aims: Ss will be able to read, understand and complete three exchanges with their personal information. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to three two-person exchanges. Tell them about the activity. - Write the first exchange on the board. - Elicit the context and the missing words and give feedback. Complete the sentences. Invite two pupils to role-play the exchange. - Give pupils time to do the task. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner, then check the answers together as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to correct their answers. - Invite some pair to stand up and role play the completed sentences aloud. Project. *Aims: Ss will be able to make a pupil card for pupils to use, and use their work to practise talking to their classmates. *Procedure: - Tell pupils about the activity. Stick the pupil card sample on the board. Write the presentation language on the board. Check comprehension and give feedback - Have pupils repeat the sentences until they can say the sentences by themselves. - Model the presentation a few times. - Invite a pupil to the front of the classroom to perform the presentation. - Put pupils into groups to rehearse their pupil card presentation. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Invite a few pupils from different groups to show and talk about their pupil cards in front of the classroom. - Create a class display of pupil cards and vote for the best decorated one. V. Fun corner and wrap-up: *Aims: Ss will be able consolidate and wrap up the content of the lesson by game. *Procedure: - T asks Ss to answer the following questions: + What have you learnt from the lesson today? + What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the lesson). Game: Role play - Divide the class into 4 teams. - Invite each team to go to the board and role play using the given conversation - Encourage pupils to practise speaking English. Give points to the teams. VI. Home-link. - Have Ss learn by heart vocabulary, structure and do exercise part E of Unit 1 in workbook. - Prepare the next lesson: Unit 2-Lesson 1: 1,2,3 on page 16 VII. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Use the words what, your, name, my in relation to the topic “Our names” - Use What’s your name? – My name’s . to ask and answer questions about name - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic "Our names" - Vocabulary: what, your, name, my - Sentense pattner: + What’s your name? My name’s . 2. Skills: Listening and speaking. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: tell the truth about feelings and emotions - Diligence: complete learning tasks 4. Competence: - Oral Communication: speak about names, ask and answer the questions - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. B. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Sing a song from youtube ( *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - Ask pupils to sing a song, Whole class sing aloud - Invite some of them to come to the board to role play, the rest of the pupils will sing. - Give point for the pupils and encourage them. - Let Ss open your book page 16 and look at Unit 2, Lesson 1 (1,2,3). II. Vocabulary. *Aims: Ss will be able to know the vocabulary in front of starting the new lesson. *Procedure: - T elicits the new words. + what: gì, cái gì (translation) + name: tên (situation) + my: của tôi (translation) + your: của bạn (translation) - Introduce the new words according to the 3-2-3 rule. - T writes the words on the board. Ss take note and copy - Run through all the new. - Checking: Rub out and remember. *Outcome: Ss can say new words. III. Listen, point and repeat. (P16) *Aims: Ss will be able to understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) focusing on asking and answering questions about names. *Procedure: - Have pupils look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures. - Ask pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen for once time - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat in chorus, sentence by sentence for twice times. Follow the same procedure with Picture b. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. - Have Ss work in pair to practice the diaguage - Invite a few pairs to the front of the class to read aloud. Correct pronunciation if necessary. Draw their attention to the question What’s your name? and the answers My name’s Ben. and My name’s Mary. Tell pupils that they are a question and answers about the character names. *Outcome: Ss can understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts about names. IV. Listen, point and say. (P16) *Aims: Ss will be able to correctly say the character names and use What's your name? My name's .. to ask and answer questions about names. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the picture a and b. Elicit the name of each character. - Point at Picture a and the words Ben and Mai under it. Check comprehension and give feedback. - Play the recording for pupils to repeat the words a few times. Follow the same procedure with Picture b. - Introduce new structure for Ss. + Model sentences: A: What's your name? B: My name's .. - Run through model sentences and explain models and gives meaning. - Play the recording for pupils to repeat the sentence a few times. - Give pupils time to work in pairs and take turns to act out the role of each character in picture a and picture b. - Invite a few pairs to come to the front of the classroom, point at the relevant character in each picture, and act out his/her role. Correct pronunciation if necessary. *Outcome: Ss can correctly say the character names and use What's your name? My name's_____. to ask and answer questions about names. V. Let’s talk. (P16) *Aims: Ss will be able to enhance the correct use of What’s your name? and My name’s . . to ask and answer questions about names. *Procedure: - Draw pupil’s attention to the picture. Ask questions to help them identify the context. + What can you see in the picture? + Who are they? + Where are they? + What are they saying? - Elicit the missing words in the bubbles. Complete them. Get pupils to say the completed sentences. - Put pupils into groups of four. Encourage them to greet, self-introduce and respond to greetings. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Invite some groups to perform. *Outcome: Pupils can enhance the correct use of What’s your name? – My name’s . to ask and answer questions about names. VI. Fun corner and wrap-up. *Aims: Ss will be able consolidate and wrap up the content of the lesson by game. *Procedure: - Ask Ss to answer the following questions: + What have you learnt from the lesson today? +What are the core values of the lesson? (if the teacher can take from the lesson). - Review the vocabulary and model sentences. Game: Blow up balloons - Divide the class into 2 teams. Let pupils choose a balloon by its colour. - Pupil(s) answer the question(s). If their answer(s) are correct, they get points for their teams. - The winning team is the team with more points. VII. Home-link. - Have Ss learn by heart vocabulary, structure and do exercise part B of Unit 2 in workbook. - Prepare the next lesson: Unit 2-Lesson 1: 4,5,6 on page 17 VIII. Adjustment after the lesson. (If have) Wednesday, September 21th 2022 S: 3AT2; 3CT3; 3BT4 Period: 11 UNIT 2: WHAT YOUR NAMES Lesson 1 (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Use What’s your name? My name’s ... to ask and answer questions about names - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic "Our names" - Read and write about people’s names - Vocabulary: Review - Sentense pattner: Review 2. Skills: Speaking, listening, reading and writing. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: tell the truth about feelings and emotions. - Diligence: complete learning tasks. 4. Competence: - Critical thinking: self-introduce - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Self-control and independent learning: perform listening tasks B. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Game: Pass the ball *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - Divide the class into 2 teams. - Each team has 1 sticky ball. - Play the music. Pupils in each team take turns to pass the ball. When the music ends, 2 pupils who have the ball will stand up and say their names, using the model sentences. - Let’s open your book page 17 and look at Unit 2, Lesson 1 (4,5,6) II. Listen and tick: *Aims: Ss will be able to listen to and understand two dialogues in which pupils ask and answer questions about names. *Procedure: - Ask pupils some questions about Activity 4 (e.g. How many pictures are there? Who can you see? What are they doing?). - Ask them to say about the difference between Picture 1a and Picture 1b. - Have pupils look at Pictures 1a and 1b. Play the recording of the first dialogue and ask pupils to tick the correct picture. Play the recording again and check their answers. Praise pupils if they have the correct answer (Picture b). - Play the recording with the second dialogue. - Set a time limit for pupils to swap and check the answers. Correct their answers, if necessary. - If time allows, play the recording, sentence by sentence, for the class to listen and repeat in chorus. Correct their pronunciation if necessary. - T gives feedback. Look, complete and read. *Aims: Ss will be able to complete three target sentence patterns with the help of picture cues. *Procedure: - Have pupils look at the pictures. Have them identify the characters in the two pictures. - Have pupils look at the two incomplete exchanges. Draw their attention to the missing words in the sentences. - Model with Picture 1. Have pupils look at the dialogue. Ask them what is missing in the answer. Then have them look at the picture and identify the character’s name. Then have them complete the gap - Follow the same procedure with Picture 2. Draw their attention to the two gaps in the second exchange. - T gives feedback. Key: 1. Lucy 2. your name; Mary - Have pupils complete the exchanges individually and ask a few pairs to read them aloud. *Outcome: Ss can complete three target sentence patterns with the help of picture cues. IV. Let’s play. *Aims: Ss will be able to review the characters’ names by playing the game Slap the board. *Procedure: - Divide class into 2 groups - Guide how to play the game - Put the flash cards or write the words of the six pupils on the board. - Each group chooses six Ss to play. - Invite one Ss to the front of the class and ask What's your name? The class answers the question aloud with one of the names on the board (ex: My name's Bill). - Look at the picture, listen and slap the picture you heard. - Who faster will get 1 mark. - Which group with higher mark is the winner. - T gives feedback. V. Fun corner and wrap-up: Game: Who is faster? *Aims: Ss will be able consolidate and wrap up the content of the lesson by game. *Procedure: - T explains the game - T asks student answer. - Who is faster hand up to answer. If their answer correct, they win. VI. Home-link. - Have Ss learn by heart vocabulary, structure and do exercise part D of Unit 2 in workbook. - Prepare the next lesson: Unit 2-Lesson 2: 1,2,3 on page 18) VII. Adjustment after the lesson. (If have) Friday, September 23th 2022 S: 3AT1; 3CT2; 3BT3 Period: 12 UNIT 2: WHAT YOUR NAMES Lesson 2 (1,2,3) A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce the sounds of the letters m and p in the words Mai and Peter respectively. - Ask and answer questions about one’s name and how to spell one's name. - Listen and fill the gapped sentences with the words Mai and Peter. - Say the chant Hello. 2. Skills - Listening, writing and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Ss confident in communicate with their friends. - Ss love English, friends and teacher. 4. Forming competence - Ss pronounce the sounds of the letters m and p - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Review * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: How do you spell your name? − (N A M). C. Activity 1: Presentation Task 1: Listen and repeat. - Have Ss open their books page 16. - Ask Ss identify the characters in the picture and what they are doing. - Tell Ss that they are going to learn how to spell names. - Recall the alphabet. - Use a poster to set up the situation. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. - Divide class into two, have one group repeat Nam’s part and the other Tom’s part. - Play the tape again. Activity 2: Listening practice (Listen and write) - Have Ss to look at sentence 1 and 2. - Ask Ss to guess and say the lines in the speech bubbles, then fill the bubbles. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. - Ask Ss to trade their answers. - Monitor the activity. - Call on some ss to perform the task at the front of the class. - Play the tape again and check answers. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus. Activity 3: Chant practice (Let’s chant) - Put the large piece of paper with the chant on the board. - Read the chant. - Divide the class to two and read the chant. - Call on some volunteers to read the chant. - Summary the lesson - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again. - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the pattern. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 2, Lesson 3- Activities 4-5-6 on page 13,15, 17).
