Lesson 2 (1,2,3)
STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES
A. Objectives
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Ask and answer questions about what the other speaker does at break-
time.
- Sentence Patterns: What do you do at break time? ̶ I play ___.
- Vocabulary: badminton, football, basketball, chess, table tennis
2. Skills:
- Develop Ss listening and speaking
3. Attitudes:
- Ss love English more.
- Keep safe when they play games
- Do exercise more.
4. Forming competence:
- Know some about break-time activities.
- Practise with partner
B. Language focus
* Key terms: - Sentence Patterns: What do you do at break time? ̶ I

* Key grammatical structures

C. Instructional resources
- Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer.
- Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.
* Warm-up
- Ask ss to play the game of Slap the board, using the vocabulary learnt.
- Listen and give comments.
Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat.
- Have pupils look at the pictures on page 64.
- Ask pupils to identify the character in the pictures.
- Present the situation.
- Play the tape. - Play the tape again.
- Call on 2 pairs to perform at the front of the class.
- Have whole class repeat each line of the dialogue in chorus.
Activity 2. Point and say
- Tell ss that they are going to practice asking and answering the question
What do you do at break time?
- Have ss look at the pictures on page 64
- Point to picture a. Ask ss to guess what each character should say.
- Ask Ss fill in the speech bubbles.
- Ask Ss to repeat.
- Ask Ss to practice in pairs.
- Monitor the activity.
- Call on a pair to perform.
Activity3. Let’s talk
- Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends.
- Give a few seconds for ss to look at the pictures.
- Elicit the words to fill the gap.
- Write the instructions on the board and get ss to repeat them a few times.
- Get ss to work in pairs.
- Go around the class and help when ss necessary.
Task 4: Let’s play
- Tell ss they are going to play a word game, show how to play it.
- Divide the class into teams of 8-10 students, each team is given a piece of
paper with one word written on it.
- Get ss to play the game.
- Monitor the activity.
- Summary the lesson Thursday, December 16th 2021

- Express their likes and dislikes of a sport or a game.
- Sentence Patterns: Do you like ___? ̶ Yes, I do. / ̶ No, I don’t.
- Vocabulary: skipping, skating, hide-and-seek, blind man’s bluff
2. Skills.
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/Quality:
- Love sports
- Solidarity with friends
4. Forming competence:
- Know some about break-time activities.
- Practise with partner

- Call a few ss to the front of the class to act out the dialogue.
- Give comments.
Activity 1: Look, Listen and number
- Have Ss open their books page 66.
- Tell ss that they are going to talk about the activities they like at break
time, using Do you like+(activity)?
- Draw ss’ attention to the first picture and elicit the activities in the picture.
- Explain what they say.
- Use 2 puppets to present the situation.
- Play the tape. - Play the tape again.
- Ask ss work in pairs to practice the dialogues.
- Monitor the activity
Activity 2: Point and say
- Have pupils look at each the picture.
- Ask pupils to identify the activities
- Use the first picture as an example and put the question and answer on the
board.
- Have Ss repeat the phrases a few times.
- Ask Ss to practice in pairs.
- Monitor the activity.
- Call on some pairs (4-5 pairs) to perform the task at the front of the class.
- Observe and give comments.
- Have the whole class repeat all the dialogue.
Activity 3: Let’s talk
- Have Ss look at the pictures on page 66.
- Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends.
- Point to the first picture and ask Ss to guess what they say.
- Ask Ss fill the speech bubbles.
- Have Ss repeat the sentences in the bubbles.
- Ask ss to work in pairs.
- Monitor the activity.
- Call a few pairs to the front of the class to act out the dialogue.
Activity 4: Walk and talk.
- Ask Ss walk around the class to talk about the activities they like playing
at break time.
- Monitor the activity.
- Summary the lesson
- Tell pupils to read the part 1 again.
- Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the pattern.
