Period: 21 UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY?
Lesson 2 (1,2,3)
I. OBJECTIVES
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge
- Ask and answer questions about someone's birthday.
- Sentence Patterns: When’s your birthday? − It’s on ____.
- Vocabulary: Months: January, February, March, April, May, June
* Objective for students with disabilities Loc, Khánh.
The teacher guides the students to read some simple words and sentences.
2. Skills
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality
- Confident in learning and practice situations
4. Forming competence
- Co-operation
- Using language to ask and answer questions about someone's birthday
II. LANGUAGE FOCUS

* Key grammatical structures
- Sentence: When’s your birthday? − It’s on ____.
- Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer.
- Audio track: Review- Cards.
* Warm-up: - Greeting
- Let Ss sing the song: What’s the date today?
Task 1. Look, listen and repeat
- Tell Ss that they are going to read a story which pupils ask/answer about
birthday
- Ask them to say the Q which Linda asked Mai to know her birthday and
the answer after listening
- Play the recording (3 times)
- Play the recording again and ask them to repeat a few times.
- Ask pupils to work in pairs to practice the dialogue.
- Go around and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue. - Check some pairs. Others give comments.
Task 2. Point and say
- Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering about
someone’s birthday
- Teach the new vocabulary: Months: January, February, March, April,
May, June.
- Say aloud the words, then ask pupils to repeat the words a few times
- Have pupils write down the new words into their notebook.
* Checking Vocabulary:

- Guide to use: When’s your birthday?
It’s on the first of March
Note that the first letters of the names of months must be in capitals.
- Point the pict. and ask Ss say the date
- Offer sts look at the pictures and talk about them
- State the task need to do
- Ask some sts to report
Task 3. Let’s talk
- Give the table of twelve months
- Ask Ss to talk using 2 Qs they learnt in Lesson 1 and Lesson 2: What is
the date today? And When’s your birthday?
Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments
- Retell the content of the lesson.
- Do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next new lesson.

Period: 22 UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY?
Lesson 2 (4,5,6)
I. OBJECTIVES
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge
- Ask and answer questions about someone's birthday.
- Listen and number the pictures in the correct order.
- Read, and complete the gapped exchanges, using the pictures.
- Say the chant Months of the year.
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
* Objective for students with disabilities Loc, Khánh.
The teacher guides the students to read some simple words and sentences.

- Ask some questions to check ss’ understanding.
5. Look and write
- Ask some questions:
+ How many blanks are there?
- Ask Ss to discuss what to write. - Ask Ss to do individually.
- Go round and help.
- Have ss work in pair to share the answer.

- Call some ss to report their answer.

6. Let’s chant
- Ask Ss to look at part 6 and describe the picture.

- Divide the class into two big groups.
- Listen and give comments.
- Ask ss to practise reciting the chant in groups.
- Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again.

Lesson 3 (1,2,3)
I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge
- Pronounce the sounds of the letters th and ch in the words fourth and
March respectively.
- Listen and circle the words filling the gapped sentences. Then write the
words and say the completed sentences aloud.
- Say the chant When’s your birthday?
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
* Objective for students with disabilities Loc, Khánh.
The teacher guides the students to read some simple words and sentences.
2. Skills: Listening, writing and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality: To help Ss loving English.

- Using language to talk about someone’s birthday

- Write the sentences and then play the recording one more Task 2. Listen and circle. The say aloud
- Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to circle .
- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and circle.
- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer:
- Have pupils to write on the boad the sentences.
- Check and correct.

- Have them read the chant and help them the difficult words
- Play the recording (3 times)

- Write a birthday invitation card.
- Make and present a birthday invitation card to the class

- Have three sts write on the board, others give commens, teacher corrects
Task 6. Project
- Tell Ss that they are going to make a birthday card for their friends
- Go around offering to help.
