WEEK 26 Monday, April 04th 2022 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period 65 UNIT 19: WHAT ANIMAL DO YOU WANT TO SEE? Lesson 2 (1, 2,3) A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Express reasons why they like or do not like animals. - Sentence Patterns: I like ___ because ___. / I don’t like _because __. - Vocabulary: tigers – crocodiles – scary; bears, elephants, big / zebras, beautiful / kangaroos, fast. 2. Skills. - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. Language focus * Key terms: Vocabulary: tigers – crocodiles – scary; bears, elephants, big / zebras, beautiful / kangaroos, fast. * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: I like ____ because ____. / I don’t like ___because _____. C. Instructional resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Play the game Charades Task 1. Look, listen and repeat - Have Ss to look at the book at page 60 - Elicit the character and have Ss guess what they are saying. - Teacher introduces some new words: funny, scary - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles two times. - Divide the class into two groups. One repeat Nam’s part and the other repeat Linda’s part. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation - Elicits the structures: I like because /I don’t like because Task 2. Point and say - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 60 - Ask Ss to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - Teacher introduces some new words: bear, zebra, beautiful, fast - T models in picture a; b; c; d - Ask them to act out the dialogue 1. Repeat the step with some other pairs for pictures - Have Ss practice acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures. - Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The others observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Task 3. Let’s talk - Introduce the activity: Talking about What animal do you want to see? - Write down the answers to report your interview to the class later. - Pair work - Display in class, others comment - Give comments C. Production - Retell the content of the lesson. D. Homework - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again. - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the structure. Wednsday, April 06th 2022 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period 66 UNIT 19: WHAT ANIMAL DO YOU WANT TO SEE? Lesson 3 (1,2,3) A.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable 'crocodile, 'elephant, 'wonderful, and 'beautiful. - Read the gapped sentences, listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gaps. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant I want to go to the zoo. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop reading speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly, love animals and protect animals - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. Language focus * Key terms: Vocabulary: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: Revision C. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Sing a song “Why or Why not?” Task 1. Listen and repeat. - Introduce the sounds: ‘crocodile, ‘elephant, ‘beautiful, ‘wonderful - Have Ps pay attention to the stress of 4 words - Play the CD and ask ss to repeat a few times - Show 4 sentences on the board to check Ps’ understanding of the voc. - Play the CD and ask ss to repeat a few times Task 2. Listen and circle. Then say the sentences aloud. - Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank. - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Answer: 1. B 2. B 3. Let’s chant. - Introduce the Chant: I want to go to the zoo - Turn on the tape. - Ps listen to the tape and repeat the chant. - Ps chant in group and individual. -The Ps chant and do the action. C. Production - Retell the content of the lesson. D. Homework - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again. - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the structure. Friday, April 08th 2022 S: 4BT1; 4CT2; 4AT4 Period 67 UNIT 19: WHAT ANIMAL DO YOU WANT TO SEE? Lesson 1 (4); Lesson 2 (4); Lesson 3 (5,6) A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the words respectively. - Read and fill the gapped paragraph, using the information from another paragraph. - Write the reasons why they want go to the zoo, and like or do not like animals, using the guiding questions. - Draw and colour their favourite animal(s). Then show it / them, and tell the class the reasons why they like it / them. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly, love animals and protect animals - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. Point at each of them and have pupils say the number. Point at a quicker pace to make it more challenging. Activity 1: Listen and tick - Tell ss that they are going to read the text about Tom’s picnic with his family tick true or false and complete the paragraph. - Tell ps to read the sentences under the text and guess which sentences is true ang which one is false. - Do the task independently. - Give them time to do task. - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary - Have Ss trade the answers in pairs for correction - Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and comment. - Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the sentences. - Have the whole class read each sentence in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Key: 1. F 2. T 3. T Activity 2: Look and write - Have pupils read 4 sentences in the book - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and write the answers they hear. - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and write. Check their guess. - Compare the answer with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer: - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Answer: 1. big, 2. fast, 3. funny, 4. scary Activity 3: Let’s write - Tell ps that they are going to write about a short paragraph about why they want to go to the zoo, what animal (s) they like and do not like, and the reasons. Remind them to use the guided qs and the words in the box. - Have ps do the task individually. - Have ps read aloud their writing - Others give comments and ask some questions: Activity 4: Project - Introduce the project and how to carry it. - Tell ps that they are going to draw and colour their favourite animal (s), and tell the class why they like it - Model doing - Ask ss to work in pair to brainstorm possible sentences to decribe their favourite animal (s) - Check some Ps before class C. Production - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. D. Homework - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures
