WEEK 12 Tuesday, November 22th 2022 S: 4AT1 Period: 45 UNIT 7: WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING? Lesson 3 (4,5,6) I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Read the email and fill the gapped sentences. - Write the email replying to Mai’s email in Activity 4. - Show the collected things to the class. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop Ss listening, reading & writing skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Confident when talking English - United friend 4. Forming competence - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: Revision - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Have the class say the chant : Flying a little kite - Lead into new lesson 4. Read and complete. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to read Mai’s email and complete the sentences. - Have them look at the email and discuss questions such as Who is writing the email? Who is he or she writing to? and What is the email about? - Ask pupils to read the text again and do the task - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task. - Go around the class and offer help, if necessary. - Ask pupils to compare their answers before checking as a class - Call four pupils to write their answers on the board. - Give feedback and correct mistakes *Key: 1. Nine 2. collecting stamps, taking photos 3. playing chess 4 penfriend 5. Add your photo and write a reply email to Mai. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to write a reply email to Mai, using the information from Activity 4. - Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to write - Give them time to do the task independently. - Go around offering help, if necessary. - Ask two pupils to write their answers on the board. - Give feedback. Lesson 1 (1,2) I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pupils can ask and answer questions about what subjects the other speaker has for the current day. - Sentence Patterns: What subjects do you have today? − I have ____. - Vocabulary: Maths, Science, IT, Vietnamese, Art, Music 2. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love their class, love subjects - Have positive attitudes with subjects - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about subjects in their class - Practise in pairs II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: Revision - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Ask the class the question What do you like doing? - Have the class say the chant Flying a little kite - Lead into new lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat. (10’) - Ask pupils to look at the picture and answer the questions ?Who are they? ? Where are they? ?What are they talking about? - Play the recording for pupils to listen to the tape - Explain new words: subject, Maths, Vietnamese, English - Say aloud the words, then ask pupils to repeat the words a few times - Have pupils write down the new words into their notebook. - Play the recording again and ask them to repeat a few times. - Ask pupils to practice in pairs. - Go round and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue. - Check some pairs. Ask other pupils to give comments. - Give comments. 2. Point and say. (20 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about school subjects, using: * Structure: What subjects do you have today? I have ... - Introduce new words : Science, IT, Art, Music; then say them aloud for pupils to repeat. - Ask pupils to write down the new words and the structure in their notebook. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil - Tell pupils to practice in pairs, using the structure. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation. 3. Work in pairs. Ask your partners what subjects they have today. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise in pairs: one asks and the other answers questions about the actual subjects they have today, using What subjects do you have today? I have ... - Get pupils to work in pairs, one asking and the other giving the answer. - Invite a few pairs to role-play in front of the class Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next new lesson. * Comment Thursday, November 24th 2022 S: 4AT4 Period: 47 UNIT 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? Lesson 1 (3,4,5) I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about school subjects. - Listen and tick the correct pictures. - Read, and complete sentences, using the pictures. - Sing the song What day is it today? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love their class, love subjects - Have positive attitudes with subjects - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about their class - Practise in pairs II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: Revision - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Call a few pairs to the front of the class to ask and answer the question What subjects do you have today? - Lead into new lesson. 3. Listen and tick. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to three dialogues about school subjects and tick the correct pictures. - Have them look at the pictures. Ask them what these subjects are called in English - Play the recording for pupils to listen and tick. - Get pupils to swap their answers before you check as a class. - Ask pupils to give answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check - Give correct answers. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to fill the gaps of the sentences with different days of the week and the subjects they have. - Have them look at the pictures to identify the days of the week and the subjects they have on each day. - Ask pupils to do the task. - Get pupils to swap their answers. - Ask pupils to give answers and other pupils to give comments. - Give correct answers. *Key:1. Monday, Vietnamese, Science and English. 2.Wednesday, has Maths, IT and Music. 3 Friday, have Maths, Science and Art. 5. Let’s sing. (10 minutes) - Tell pupils that they are going to sing the What day is it today? song. - Get pupils to read the lyrics in silence. Check their comprehension. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the song. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole song. - Then have them practice in groups. - Call on some groups to sing the song in front of the class. The rest of the class clap their hands at rhythms. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the work book and prepare for the next new lesson. * Comment Friday, November 25th 2022 S: 4AT4 Period: 48 UNIT 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? Lesson 2 (1,2,3) I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about when someone has a subject. - Sentence Patterns: When do you have ___? − I have it on ___. - Vocabulary: Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri. 2. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love their class, love subjects and love teachers. - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about their subjects. - Practise in pairs II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri. * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: When do you have ___? − I have it on ___. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Sing a song Task 1. Look, listen and repeat - Tell Ss that they are going to read a story in which they ask/ answer Qs about school timetables, using: When do you have English? I have it on (days of the week) - Let sts talk about the characters in the pictures - Play the recording - Play the recording again (sometimes). - Go around and help Ss - Correct about the intonation, .... - Ask: Which sentence does T. ask N.? Which sentence does N. answer? Task 2. Point and say - Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about which days of the week we have subjects, using When do you have English? I have it on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays (note s after the days) - Have them look at the pictures to understand how the language is used in different contexts. Help Ss if they need - Point to the first picture and do the task with one pupil, using the expressions in the bubbles and the words under the picture. - Check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary. Task 3. Let’s talk - Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answer questions about school timetables, using What subjects do you have today? When do you have .? Who is your . teacher? - Go around to help them - Call some pairs to report in front of the class - Practice activity 1 again Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the work book, learn by hearnt vocabulary and prepare for the next new lesson. * Comment
