WEEK 1 Friday, September 17th 2021 S: 4BT1; 4AT3 Period: 1 UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN Lesson 1 (1,2) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Greet and respond to formal greetings. - Say and respond to goodbye. B. Language Focus * Key terms: morning, afternoon, evening, goodbye * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Nice to see you again . C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4: Student’s book, handmade puppets, robot- teacher. - Audio track: - Computer & Projector STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Says hello to the class and introduce yourself, using Hello, I’m + your name. Walks around the class to say hello again to some pupils and ask them to answer. Activity 1: Language input (Act 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Who are they? (Nam, Mai and Miss Hien) 2. Where are they? (at Miss Hien’s school) 3. Look at picture “What are they doing? They are getting up - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the pictures twice. - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the story. Explain what each character says. Check comprehension and give constructive feedback. - Play Track 1 (Activity 1), point at each speech bubble for Ss to listen and repeat the sentence(s) twice. - Point at each bubble for Ss to read the sentence(s). - Elicit the sentence patterns “ Good morning ” the conversation, explain the meaning and use of the sentence patterns. Vocabulary - Good morning: Chào buổi sáng (from 5 a.m to 12 a.m) (using pictures) - Good afternoon: Chào buổi chiều (from 1 p.m to 5 p.m) - Good evening: Chào buổi tối (from 6 p.m to 9 p.m) * Checking: matching pictures Task 1: Controlled practice (Act 2: Point and say.) - Use 4 pictures in activity 2 on page 6 to elicit the four activities: Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the words under the picture. - Show picture a and say “Good morning ..” - Elicit the answer from Ss “Good .”. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the other pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. Activity 3 : Listening practice. (Act 3: Listen and tick.) - Ask sts to look at the pictures and guess what are they saying. - Play the recording for sts to listen and tick the correct pictures - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. - Give feedback. Key: 1.b 2. a 3. a Task 2: Guided practice (information gap activity) - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 4. Remind Ss to greet each other, say their names, and ask and answer about what activities they like. - Give a model first and then ask students to do the activity in groups of 4. Model Good _________, _________. Good _________, _________. - Ask sts to work in pairs. - Move around to offer help. - Call on some pairs to perform the task. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: Good _________, _________. (Talk about Greetings) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 1, Lesson 1 on pages 7). D. Production “Hello, how are you?” E. Homework - Ask Ss to do Ex A, B at home.
