WEEK 1 Monday, September 05th 2022 C: 3CT1; 3AT2; 3BT3 Period: 1 INTRODUCES THE SYLLABUS, TEXTBOOK AND MATERIALS OF ENGLISH GRADE 3 (Làm quen với Chương trình và sách giáo khoa Tiếng Anh 3 và các tài liệu bổ trợ liên quan trên mạng) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Introduce the syllabus and textbooks of grade English 3 - Vocabulary: names of characters of English book grade 3 - Know and do action about classroom languages. 2. Skills: Listening and speaking. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Be self-study, communicative and interative skill. - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. 4. Competence: - Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love learning English. - Honesty, patience and friendliness. B. RESOURCES AND MATERIAL - Student books and workbook 3 - Website sachmem.vn - Computer, projector C. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Greeting the class *Aim: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - Greet the class and introduce yourself, saying: Hello. I’m Miss Minh. - Encourage Ss to say their names - Ss greet and say their names aloud *Outcome: Ss can know to greet the class and introduce yourself II. Textbook 3. *Aim: Ss will be able to know about the English 3 progamme and textbook. *Procedure: - Introduce English 3 has 3 books. They are two student books and one workbook - Introduce the student’s book and workbook. - Say the main contents - There are 20 Units, each Unit has 3 lessons with six periods Lesson 1: (two periods) 1. Look, listen and repeat 2. Listen, point and say 3. Let’s talk 4. Listen and circle/ tick/ number 5. Look, complete/ match and read 6. Let’s sing / play Lesson 2: (two periods) 1. Look, listen and repeat 2. Listen, point and say 3. Let’s talk 4. Listen and number/ tick 5. Read (match) and complete/ match/ tick/ circle/ write. 6. Let’s sing/ play Lesson 3: (two periods) 1. Listen and repeat 2. Listen and circle/ tick 3. Let’s chant 4. Read and match/ circle/ compete/ write the answer. 5. Let’s write 6. Project After 5 Units has a Review - There are 4 reviews and 4 fun times. - There are two tests. *Outcome: Ss can know the syllabus and textbooks of grade English 3 III. Supplementary material online. *Aim: Ss will be able to know how to learn English 3 progamme online. *Procedure: - Introduce Ss link Sachmem.vn, lingo bee - Introduce for Ss to use sachmem.vn *Outcome: Ss can know the textbook of English 3 IV. Introduce the characters in the book. *Aim: help ss to know the names of the characters in the book. *Procedure: - Teacher asks ss to open the textbook and asks the ss some questions: +What page can you see the book map? +What page can you see the glossary? +Where can you see the characters in the book? +Where can you find the CD? - T introduces about textbook of English book grade 3 and every part in each lesson: - The names of character in the book: + Mr Long, Ms Hoa, Ben, Bill, Linh, Lucy, Mai, Mary, Minh, Nam - T introduces the main characters in this textbook by using the puppets to introduce the name of the characters one by one. - Have Ss read aloud. - Call some Ss read in front of the class. - T checks and corrects their pronunciation, if necessary. *Outcome: Ss can know the names of the characters in the book. V. Classroom languages. *Aims: Ss will be able to know and do action about classroom languages. *Procedure: - Say and model some classroom languages + Open/ close your books, please! + Stand up/ Sit down, please! + Be quiet/ Don’t talk, please! + Pick up your pen + Put your pen down + Raise your hands + Go to the board + Look + Complete + Let’s play + Ask/ answer the question + Work in pairs/groups + . - Ss look and repeat more than once. *Outcome: Ss can know about classroom languages. Tuesday, September 06th 2022 S: 3CT2, 3BT3, 3AT4 Period 2 English 3 STARTER A - Numbers (page 7) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Identify the numbers 1 to 10 through listening, speaking, reading and writing activities; - Listen and identify numbers by ticking the correct boxes. - Read and match the relevant words with numbers. - Vocabulary: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten - Sentence patterns: Review 2. Skills: Listening, speaking and write. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Oral communication: Say the numbers. - Co-operation: Ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Sociability: Talk to each other, say good words to others. 4. Competence: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Honesty: Tell the truth about feelings and emotions B. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. A song: Hello song *Aim: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. * Procedure: - Show the song on the screen. - Ask pupils to listen, sing and dance the song. Do choral repetition. - Invite some of them to come to the board to role play, the rest of the pupils will sing. - Open your book page 7 and look at Starter A. Numbers *Outcome: Ss can sing the song Hello song II. Listen, point and repeat. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen, point and repeat the number correctly. *Procedure: - T teaches vocabulary: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten - T uses body language and pictures to introduce number - Draw pupils’ attention to the numbers. - Tell them to listen, point at the numbers and repeat. Do choral repetition. - Play the recording for pupils to listen to the numbers, and familiarise themselves with their stress and intonation. Do choral and individual repetition. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat. - Remind them to point at the numbers while listening. - Do this several times until they feel confident. - Correct their pronunciation where necessary. Do choral and individual repetition. - Put pupils into pairs to practise listening, pointing at and repeating the numbers 1 to 10 - Go around the classroom to offer support. Do pair work or individual work. *Outcome: Ss can listen, point at and repeat the numbers 1 to 10 correctly. III. Listen and tick. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen and identify numbers by ticking the correct boxes. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the numbers. - Tell them to listen and tick the correct box under each number while listening. - Show an example with number three. - Play the recording and tick the box under the correct number. Do choral and individual repetition - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to do the task. - Play the recording again for them to check their answers. Do choral and individual repetition - Tell pupils to swap their books with their partners, then check answers together as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to correct their answers. Do pair work and individual work - Play the recording again for pupils to double-check their answers. - Have Ss to listen and repeat in chorus. Read and match. *Aim: Ss will be able to read and match the relevant words with numbers. *Procedure: - Draw two columns on the board like the input. - Tell pupils to read the words for numbers and draw lines to match with the target numbers. - Model: Have pupils read the word in chorus and draw a line to match with number 1. Do choral and individual repetition - Give pupils time to do the task individually or in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Check the answers as a class. - Invite a pupil to come to the front and draw a line on the board to match the words with the relevant numbers. - Give feedbacks - Have Ss look at activity 3 on page 7. *Outcome: Ss can read and match words with the relevant numbers. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Language focus: - Identify the letters of the alphabet by correctly pointing at, singing and performing The alphabet song with the correct pronunciation. - Identify the alphabet letters and complete the missing ones. - Count the letters in the target names. - Vocabulary: The alphabet 2. Skills: Listening, speaking, reading and writing. 3. Quality/Attitude: - Critical thinking: count the letters - Oral communication: practice speaking - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work 4. Competence: - Kindness: Help partners to complete learning tasks. - Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills B. RESOURCES AND MATERIAL - Pupil’s book on Page 8 - Audio Track 4 - Teacher’s guide Pages 14 - Website sachmem.vn - Flashcards/pictures and posters (Unit starter B-The Alphabet) - Computer, projector C. PROCEDURE: I. Warm up. Game: Numbers showing *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - Teacher says Numbers, numbers, then moves hand round and round. - Ask pupils to do like teacher. - Teacher says a number randomly. Pupils show their fingers in correspondence with the numbers teacher says. - Make it become more interesting by doing quicker and quicker. Do individual work and group work *Outcome: Ss can review the numbers. II. Listen, point and sing. *Aims: Ss will be able to identify the letters of the alphabet by correctly pointing at, singing and performing “The alphabet” song with the correct pronunciation and melody. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the title and lyrics of the song. Tell them about the activity. - Model reading the title and the lyrics line by line for pupils to repeat. - Encourage them to point at the letters to reinforce their understanding. Do choral repetition. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen carefully to the pronunciation and the melody. Do choral repetition. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat. - Do this several times until they feel confident. - Correct their pronunciation where necessary. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to sing along. - Show pupils actions to do while singing along with the recording, for example, use a finger to draw the letters in the air while singing. Do choral and individual repetition. - Put pupils into groups to make up their own actions for the song. - Invite groups to the front of the classroom to sing and perform the song, while the rest of the class sings and / or claps along. Encourage the class to praise or cheer the performers. Do group work and individual work *Outcome: Ss can identify the letters of the alphabet by singing and performing The alphabet song with the correct pronunciation. III. Read and complete. *Aims: Ss will be able to identify the alphabet letters and complete the missing letters. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the incomplete alphabet. Tell them about the activity. - Show them how to do the task: + point at the letters respectively for pupils to read + elicit the first missing letter and give feedback. + write the answer on the board and have pupils read it in chorus. - Give pupils time to do the task individually or in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Invite a pupil to stand up and say the missing letters. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. -Write the answers on the board for the class to correct their answers. - Have the class sing “The alphabet song” a few times. Count the letters. *Aims: Ss will be able to count the letters in the target names. *Procedure: - Draw pupils’ attention to the target names. - Tell them about the activity and show them what to do: + Point at the first name BEN and have pupils count the letters by reading the numbers under the target name in chorus. Do choral and individual repetition. + Point at Number 3 and say that it is the total number of the letters in the name BEN. + Get the class to count the letters again in chorus. - Give pupils time to do the task individually or in pairs. Go around the classroom to offer support where necessary. - Invite a pupil to stand up and count the letters in the names. - Give feedbacks *Outcome: Ss can count the letters in three target names. V. Fun corner and wrap-up. Game: What’s missing? *Aims: Ss will be able consolidate and wrap up the content of the lesson. *Procedure: - T asks ss to answer the following questions: + What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Write a number of letters on the board. Let the pupils say the names of letters. Cover one letter. Pupils have to say what’s missing. (This can be played between groups or individual) - Check the answer. If it’s correct, give points to the groups/ pupils. - Ask pupils to say the name of missing letter again. - Repeat the procedure with several other lettes. VI. Objectives By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - practice to greet and self-introduce themselves - know about the importance of English, classroom rules, commands. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Hello, Hi, I, am, Nice to meet you * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Hello/ Hi. I am Nam. C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3: Student’s book. - Audio track: - Computer & Projector: CDs player, stereo, STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up Greeting Hello. I’m Huong. T asks some ps to reply. Activity 1: Language input (Act 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Who are they? (Nam, Mai and Miss Hien) 2. Where are they? (at Miss Hien’s school) 3. Look at picture “What are they doing? They are getting up - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the pictures twice. - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the story. Explain what each character says. Repeat the same procedure with the other pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class.
