WEEK 8 Monday, October 28th 2024 S: 1CT2; 1BT3; 1AT4 Period: 15 REVIEW 1: PHIL AND SUE Listen and repeat, Look and circle A.OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Listen and repeat the story. - Vocabulary: Revision - Structures: Revision - Skills: Reading and writing. 2. Competences: - Know how to practise some sounds. - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: - Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love story Phil ans Sue, love learning English B. METHODS: - Work in pairs, work in groups, ask and answer. - Communicative approach, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practicing, prediction. C. TEACHING AIDS: - Teacher: Posters, laptop, pictures, textbook, lesson plan, TV or projector. - Students: Textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, school things. D. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Game: Vietnamese whisper. *Aims: to help ss review some vocabulary that they learnt. *Procedure: - Divide the class into groups - Choose the leader of each group - SS listen and play game. - Explain the rule: The leader of each group goes to the board and read the words which T gives in silence. After that they go back and whisper the words with their groups. The last person of each group will go to board and write all the words on the board - After finishing the game, the group writes down all correct words is a winner -SS open their book. - T gets feedback. - Say “Open your book page 20 and look at Review 1- Phil and Sue Activity 1. 1. Listen and repeat. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen and repeat the story. *Procedure: -Look at the picture and listen. - Have pupils look at the picture of the boy, the girl and the speech bubbles. Introduce the two new characters Phil and Sue and help pupils identify them (their names, genders, -SS listen and say clothes,...) by asking them some questions such as Who’s the boy? Who’s the girl? What are they doing? - Have pupils look at Picture 1 and -Ss do the task. describe the picture. Draw pupils’ attention to the boy (Phil), the girl (Sue) and the bubbles. -Ss repeat - Play the recording several times for pupils to listen and repeat the bubbles, - Ss point and say saying Now listen, point to the sentences and repeat, please! - Repeat the same procedure with Pictures 2, 3 and 4. -Ss tell their answer in front of class - Play the recording of the whole story several times and have pupils listen, point to the speech bubbles and repeat until they feel confident. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Play the recording again and invite some pairs of pupils to listen to the recording and repeat the story in front of the class -Ss listen. -Ss listen and answer Activity 2. 2. Knowledge: Phonics: the sound of the letters b, c, a, d Vocabulary: ball, bike, Bill, book cake, car, cat, cup apple, bag, can, hat desk, dog, door, duck Structures: Hi, I’m _____. (greeting and introducing someone’s name) Bye, _____. (saying goodbye) I have a _____. (talking about possession) This is my _____. (introducing someone’s thing) This is a _____. (introducing something - Skills: reading, writing and listening, speaking 2. Competences: - Know how to practise some sounds. - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. 3. Listen and circle: -SS check *Aims: Ss will be able to listen and identify the sounds by circling the letters. -Ss say in front of class *Procedure: - Have pupils look at the pairs of letters. Explain the task, saying Listen to the sound and circle the letter. Check comprehension. - Ask pupils to work in pairs to point to the letters in each pair and say the sounds, saying Point to the letters and say, please! -Ss look and listen. - Play the recording, ask pupils to listen and circle the letters of the sounds. - Ask pupils to swap and check the answers. Play the recording again for -Ss look and say. them to check, if necessary. Give the correct answers. -Ss do the task. - Invite some pupils to say the sounds they have listened *Keys: 1- . b 2. a 3. c -Ss listen and tick/ cross 4. d -Ss check Activity 3. 3. Listen and tick or cross: -Ss listen. *Aims: Ss will be able to listen, recognize the words and put a tick or a cross in the box under each picture *Procedure: - Have pupils look at Picture 1 and follow the same procedure with the -Ss listen other three pictures. - Invite some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class - Draw pupils’ attention to the box under Picture 1. Before playing the recording, say Are you ready? Play the first sentence and have pupils do the task, saying OK, now listen and tick or cross, please! - Follow the same procedure with the other three pictures. Play the recording twice or more if needed, ask pupils to listen and put a tick or a cross. - Set a time limit for pupils to swap and check the answers. Correct the answers, if necessary. - Invite some pupils to the front of the class to point to the pictures and say what they have heard *Keys: 1- . x 2. √ 3. √ 4. x. - Practice more at home. - Prepare for the next lesson.
