WEEK 10 Period :37 Teaching date: Monday, November 6 th 2023 FUN TIME 1 Activity 1, 2, 3 I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - take part in three fun activities relating to their language knowledge and competences. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: review - Sentence patterns: review 2. Skills:speaking. 3. Quality /Attitude: Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss about asking and answering about hobbies. Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Responsibility: appreciate kindness 4. Competences: SS can develop some competences: Communication, planning and organization, stress tolerance, initiative Oral Oral Communication: let’s talk Self-control & independent learning: perform reading tasks. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups. II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, textbook, computer, projector, flashcards, recording III. METHODS: - Communicative language teaching, contextual teaching and learning, total physical response, games activities teaching, Model-Action-Talk, teaching methods by visual, direction method, audiolingual method. IV. PROCEDURE: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1.Warm-up:5’ Game: Watch and Guess *Aims: to help ss to be happy to learn new lesson. *Teaching techniques - techniques in teaching playing game *Procedure: - Ask 1 student to come to the board and face to the class. - SS play game. - Show 1 picture of 4 hobbies and let the others act so that the student on the board can guess the name of the hobby in the picture (1 student will guess 3 pictures). - Show 4 pictures on the board and ask Ss to repeat -Say “Open your book page 36 2. New lesson -SS open their book. Activity 1. - 1. Find, circle and match :10’ *Aims: To revise learnt vocabulary by doing the word search. *Context: – The word search – Picture cues: 1. number 9 2. an ear 3. a girl cooking 4. a boy drawing 5. a hand – Flash cards for nine, an ear, cooking, drawing and a hand. *Teaching techniques: - techniques in teaching reading - individual, pairworks, ask and answer - using flashcards, recording, pictures *Procedure: -Have Ss look at the activity. Point at the pictures and ask “What’s this?” or “What do you see in -Look at the picture and listen. the pictures?” Write the words or stick the flash cards of the words, one by one, on the board. Point at each word on the board and have Ss say the word as a class. - Point at the picture of an ear, and draw Ss' attention to the word ear that has been circled as an example. Tell Ss to find the rest of the words in the word search. - Have Ss match the words in the word search with the pictures. Have them check and correct their answers in pairs. Check the answers as a class. - Have Ss work in pairs, one points at the pictures and the other points at the circled words in the word search - Call some ss to say them aloud in front of the class. -SS do the task. *Outcome: Ss can revise learnt vocabulary by doing the word search. Activity 2 - 2. Quiz time. :10’ -Ss say aloud in front of the *Aims: to revise vocabulary and sentence class. patterns learnt in Units 1–5. *Context: – Two sets of flash cards showing different target words, e.g. ear, face, eye, hand, nose, and name. – Boxes for the flash cards labelled Box 1 and Box 2. *Teaching techniques - techniques in teaching playing game, pairworks, ask and answer - using flashcards, recording, pictures *Procedure: -Put Ss into two teams, Team 1 and Team 2. - Have one representative of each team stand next to their boxes, Box 1 and Box 2. - Explain the rules: Two quiz masters will read different dialogues for each pair of Ss. Example:Quiz master 1 (showing a flash card): What’s this?Quiz master 2: It’s a hand. -Look at the picture and -After listening to the dialogue, each answer. representative has to find the right flash card and put it in their team’s box. The quicker representative earns one point for his / her team. Then, other pairs take turns to compete. The quiz continues until the end of the time limit (5 – 10 dialogues are recommended). The team with most points wins *Outcome: Ss can revise vocabulary and sentence patterns learnt in Units 1–5. Activity 3. Look and match :6’ -SS play game *Aims: To learn the five senses and how they relate to our bodies. *Context: - Five pictures showing the body parts that we use for the five senses, labelled eye, ear, nose, hand, mouth. - Five pictures showing children tasting, smelling, seeing, hearing and touching. *Teaching techniques - techniques in teaching reading, groupworks, pairworks.. - using flashcards, pictures *Procedure: -Draw Ss’ attention to Pictures 1 to 5 and elicit the names of the body parts: eye, ear, nose, hand, mouth. - Point to your eyes and ask Ss what they do with their eyes. Encourage Ss to share their ideas, then explain that we see with our eyes. Write see on the board and model it -Ss look and listen. for Ss to repeat. - Repeat Step 2 for Pictures 2 to 5 (hear, smell, touch, taste). - Have Ss complete the activity by drawing lines to match the body parts to the senses. - Check answers together as a class *Outcome: Ss canlearn the five senses and how they relate to our bodies. 3.
