Educational aim: Ss can write and send postcard for friends or family. 2. Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write postcards to their friends about their trips, develop their writing skill. II. PREPARATIONS: Book, extra – board III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) - Have Ss play “Networks” about weather. Weather - Ask question: What’s the weather like today? [ It’s (hot) 2. Pre – Writing: (10’) - Ask Ss some questions: + Do you always send postcard to your friends or relatives when you are on holiday? + What do you write on the postcard? - Set the scene: “From the USA, Mrs. Quyen sent a post cards to her friend Sally to tell her about the trip” - Ask Ss to look at the postcard on p. 118 and complete the gaps with the appropriate words. - Call some Ss to write the answers on the board. 1. in 2. people 3. weather 4. visited 5. her 6. nice / lovely 7. bought 8. for 9. Heaviness 10. soon 3. While – Writing: (15’) - Ask Ss to look at the information in the book. - Ask questions: 1. What do you write about the places? 2. What do you write about the weather? 3. What are the people like? - Ask Ss to write the postcards on a piece of paper, using the given information. - Call some Ss to read their postcards in front of the class. * Suggested ideas: Dear Nga, I’m having a wonderful time in Ha Long Bay. The people here are very hospitable and friendly. We’re lucky; the weather has been fine and sunny during the trip. I saw a lot of caves here. They are really beautiful.
