REVISION FOR THE FIRST TERM TEST – E.8 – (2019 – 2020) A. GRAMMAR. I/ Tenses: 1. The present simple tense : ( Thì hiện tại đơn ) - of the verb “be”: (+) S + am/is/are ( - ) S + am/is/are + not ( ? ) Am/Is/Are + S ? - of ordinary verb: (+) S+V(s/es) (-) S+don’t/doesn’t + V-bare inf (?) Do/Does + S +V-bare inf ? *Use: - Diễn tả thói quen / hành động được lặp đi lặp lại ở hiện tại (often, usually, sometimes, always, seldom, rarely, never, every ) Ex : I walk to school everyday. She usually does her homework in the evening. - Diễn tả sự thật, chân lý. Ex : The Earth moves around the sun The Sun rises in the East - Simple present tense with future meaning ( thì hiện tại đơn mang nghĩa tương lai): nói về lịch trình, thời gian biểu. Ex: What time does the plane take off? – It takes off in an hour. 2. The present progressive tense: ( Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn ) (+) S + am/is/are + V-ing (-) S + am/is/are + not + V-ing (?) Am/Is/Are + S + V-ing ? *Use: - Hành động đang diễn ra tại thời điểm nói. Ex: Let’s go out. It is raining now. - Hoạch định ở tương lai. Ex: Tomorrow is my birthday. I am having a party at my house. - Dùng với động từ “get/ become” chỉ sự thay đổi Ex: The weather is getting warmer. She is becoming famous. 1 3. The future simple tense : ( Thì tương lai đơn ) (+) S + will +V(bare inf) (-) S + won’t + V(bare inf) (?) Will + S + V(bare inf) ? *Use: Some adverbs are often used: tomorrow, next , someday, one day, tonight, this morning/ week , soon Ex: - I will be 14 on my next birthday. - There’s Eleanor. I’ll go and talk to her. - This bag looks heavy. I’ll help you . 4. The past simple tense: ( Thì quá khứ đơn) - of the verb “be”: (+) S + was/were (-) S + was/weren’t (?) Was/Were + S ? - of ordinary verb: (+) S + V ( Ved/V2 ) (-) S + didn’t + V-bare inf (?) Did + S + V-bare inf ? *Use: - Diễn tả hành động/ sự việc xảy ra vào một thời gian xác định trong quá khứ (yesterday, last week / , ago, in 2007, the day before, ) và không còn liên quan đến hiện tại. Ex : Last night, I watched TV. Mai didn’t do her homework yesterday because she was sick. 5 .The present perfect tense: ( Thì hiện tại hoàn thành ) (+) S + have/has +p.p ( Ved /V3 ) (-) S + have/has + not +p.p ( Ved/V3) (?) Have/Has + S +p.p ( Ved/V3) ? * Use: diễn tả hành động / sự việc bắt đầu trong quá khứ và vẫn còn tiếp tục / liên quan đến hiện tại. Ex: We’ve learned English for 5 years. She hasn’t been here since 1989. *Note: since ( điểm thời gian), for ( khoảng thời gian) 6.Talk about intention (dự định) with “be going to”. ( diễn tả kế hoạch hay sự việc sắp xảy ra) S + am / is / are + going to + V(bare inf) 2 II. Modal verbs (động từ khiếm khuyết). S + can/could/ought to/should/must/ have to/ has to +V( bare inf ) Ex: You must stop when the traffic lights are red. You mustn’t park your car here. You must / have to obey your parents. My mother was ill so I had to take her to the doctor. Tomorrow is Sunday. You don’t have to get up early. You look tired. You should/ought to go to bed. You shouldn’t / oughtn’t to make noise in class. *Can / Could. - Making polite request: ( lời yêu cầu lịch sự) Ex: Can / Could you help me carry this bag? Could you do me a favor? - Offering assistance : ( đề nghị được giúp đỡ) Ex: Can I / May I help you with the washing up? III. Comparison( So sánh) with “like, (not) as as, (not) the same as, different from” 1. Like: giống như là S + V + like Ex: He ran like the wind . 2. (not) as as: (không) bằng với S1 + am / is / are + (not) + as + adj + as + S2. Ex: He is as tall as his brother. She speaks English as well as foreigners . This flat isn’t as/so big as our old one. 3. (not) the same as: (không) giống nhau S1 + am / is / are +(not) + the same as + S2. Ex: My shirt is the same as your shirt. Her hair isn’t the same color as her mother’s hair. 4. different from: khác S1 + am / is / are + different from + S2. Ex: She is different from her sister. Her new school isn’t different from her old school. B/ Comparative and superlative: (so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất) 1. Comparative : ( So sánh hơn ) a) S1 +am / is / are + short adjective + er + than + S2 Ex: Jane is taller than her sister. 3 b) S1 + am / is / are + more +long adjective + than + S2. Ex: A car is more expensive than a motorbike. 2. Superlative: ( So sánh nhất ) a) S + am / is / are + the + short adjective + est Ex: HCM city is the biggest city in Viet Nam. b) S + am/is /are + the + most + long adjective Ex: Miss World is the most beautiful girl in the world. *Short –Adj: là những tính từ một âm tiết, Là những tính từ hai âm tiết tận cùng là : y,ow ,er , le * Long- Adj: Là những tính từ có từ hai âm tiết trở lên * Các tính từ so sánh đặc biệt: Good - better - the best Bad - worse - the worst Many / much - more - the most Little - less - the least Far - farther - the farthest - further - the furthest IV. Adjective & adverb: Adjective + ly Adv Ex: quick + ly -> quickly; careful + ly -> carefully; happy + ly -> happily *Irregular: good ->well ; late ->late ;fast -> fast; early -> early; hard -> hard V. Prepositions of time:(giới từ thời gian) in : month, year, season (in May, in 2004. in summer ) in the morning / afternoon / vening. on: date +month (on May 1st,...). on Sunday, on Friday,on my birthday , on Tet holiday , on the weekend at: hour (at 7 o’clock .) at day , at night , at weekend between: between 7 and 8 o’clock; between Jun and July . after/before: after 4 o’clock. for: for 2 hours /5 days , for a long time. since: since yesterday, since 2002. VI. Preposition of place: (giới từ nơi chốn ) in, on, at, in front of, behind, under, next to, to the left/ right of . VII. Adverb of place: ( trạng từ nơi chốn) Here , there , inside, outside, upstairs , downstairs • adverb of place = preposition + N Ex: I live in Ba Ria = I live here. VIII. Asking for favors and respond: ( hỏi giúp đỡ) -Could you help me, please? * Yes, of course/ certainly. -Could you do me a favor/ I need a favor? * No problem -Can/ Could you * How I can help you? * What can I do for you? * Sue./I’m sorry, I can’t/ I’m busy. -Thank you very much.
