OBJECTIVES: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get some knowledge about festival by reading for details about the Christmas, passive form in the past. II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape, pictures III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) Ask Ss to list some English songs about Christmas. 2. Pre – Reading: (5’) - Explain new words: + Design (v) + Spread (v) + Christmas carol (n) + Patron saint (n) + Jolly= happy and cheerful (adj) + Decorate (v) + Perform (v) + Leader (n) + Description (n) - Have Ss practice new words. - Explain structure: Have (had) someone do something Passive in the past: S + was/ were + V (ed/ 3) + by O - Ask Ss to listen to the tape. 3. While – Reading: (20’) - Ask Ss to read the paragraph again and complete the grid. - Call some Ss to fill the gaps in the grid on the board.
