Period 89 UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY?
Lesson 1: (1,2,3)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer
questions about what happened in a story
-Language focus: + Vocabularies: first, then, next, in the end, order, far,
away,...
+ Sentence patterns: What happened in the story? First,/Then/Next,/In the
end, ...
-Practice skill: listening and speaking, Work in pairs/ groups, Discuss.
-Resources: Student’s book, poster, pictures and workbook.
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. slap the board
- The class play game: using go fishing, go skating, go swimming, go
shopping....
II. Look, Listen and repeat.
- Tell pupils that they are going to read a story is about
- Have Ss to look at four pictures to discuss the context in which the language
is used
and ask them questions such as: Who are they? Where are they?What are they
talking about?
- Play the recording a few times for Ss to listen and repeat. Do choral and
individual
repetition, poiting to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat.

- Write model sentenceon the board.
A: What happened in the story?
B: First,/Then/Next,/In the end, ...
- Ss listen and repeat again. (T – Ss , Ss –T, Ss – Ss ,open pairs – close pairs)
III. Point and say.
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions
about what happen in a story. - Have Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used- Teach
some vocabulary: first, then, next, in the end, order, far, away,...
- Ask Ss to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same produce
with the rest of pictures.
- Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class.
- Check Ss’ mistake when necessary.
Ex: A: What happened in the story?
B: First,/Then/Next,/In the end, ...
IV. Let’s talk.
- Tell Ss that they are going to practise further by asking and answering
questions about what happen in a story.
- Get them to work in groups of four and remind them to use the questions and
answers in this section. Ss do choral and individual repetition.
- Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct
pronunciation, if necessary.
- T writes them on the board.
- Ask students read again, Call some students read aloud.
Ex: A: What happened in the story?
B: First,/Then/Next,/In the end, ...
V. Reinforcement.
* Do Exercise
- Have Ss do exercise part B of unit 14 in workbook
- T corrects and feedback

Period 90 UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY?
Lesson 1: (4,5,6)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer
questions about what happened in a story
-Language focus: + Vocabularies: review
+ Sentence patterns: review
-Practice skill: Listening, writing and singing.
-Resources: Student’s book, pictures and recording
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. Chatting
- T asks Ss answer
Ex: A: What happened in the story?
B: First,/Then/Next,/In the end, ...
- Review vocabulary and introduce new lessons
II. Listen and number.
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to and number the right pictures.
- Have pupils look at pictures to identify the names of characters. Check their
understanding.
- Play the recording 3 times for Ss listen, do the task and check their answers.
- Get Ss to swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Give feedback.

III. Read and complete.
- Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and fill the gaps with the answers.
- Get Ss to read the questions and choose the best answer.
- Give them time to do the task independently.Go around and offer help, if
necessary.
- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call some Ss to read aloud the complete sentences.

IV. Let’s sing
- Tell Ss that they are going to sing: One upon a time song.
- Get Ss to read line of the lyrics. Play the recording all the way through.
- Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line.
- Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song.
- Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the
activity.
V. Reinforcement.

Period 91 UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY?
Lesson 2: (1,2,3)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer
questions about
someone’s opinions of a book/story/character.
-Language focus: + Vocabularies: mouse, intelligent, hard- working, greedy,
kind....
+ Sentence patterns: What do you think of ... ? I think ...
-Practice skill: Listening, speaking
-Resources: Student’s book, pictures, tape
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up: Sing a song
- The class sing One upon a time song.
II. Look, Listen and repeat.
- Tell pupils that they are going to read a story. Have them look at the pictures
and guess about characters in stories. Check their comprehension by pointing at
each pictureto elicit their answer to the questions.
- Have Ss to look at four pictures to discuss the context in which the language
is used
and ask them questions such as: Who are they? What are they talking about?
- Play the recording a few times for Ss to listen and repeat. Do choral and
individual repetition, poiting to the characters speaking. Ask a few pairs to role-
play the conversation.
- Write model sentence on the board.
A: What do you think of the mouse ?
B: I think it is intelligent.
- Ss listen and repeat again. (T – Ss, Ss –T, Ss – Ss, open pairs – close pairs)

- Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about
characters in stories
- Have Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used.
- Teach some vocabulary: go camping, go shopping... - Ask Ss to listen and repeat more times the phrases chorally and individually.
Repeat the same produce with the rest of pictures.
- Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class.
- Check Ss’ mistake when necessary.
- Write the questions and answer on the board and Ss to repeat again.

- Ask them to work in pairs to prepare exchanges based on the questions
provided.

questions about someone’s opinions of a book/story/character.

+ Sentence patterns: review
-Practice skill: Listening, writing.
-Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures.
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. * Chatting
Ex: A: What kinds of stories do you like?
B: I like
A: What do you think of ?
B: I think
- Ss answer.
II. Listen and tick.
- Tell Ss that they are going to listen and tick correct pictures.
- Ask Ss to read sentences and try to guess the word to fill each gap.
- Play the recording more than one for Ss to listen and complete the sentences.
Do the task and check their answer.
- Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class.
- T gives feedback.

III. Write about what your favourite book.
- Tell Ss that they are going to write bout their favourite books.
- Have Ss read the questions then write the answering.
- Have them work in pairs to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently.
- Have them swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Call some Ss to read their writing aloud.
* Key: Answers vary.
IV. Let’s play.
- Tell Ss that they are going to play storytelling.
- T explains how the game is played.
- Give Ss time to do the game. Go around and offer help, if necessary.
- Call some Ss to read aloud the question and put them on the board.
- Invite some pairs to practise asking and answering the questions. T gives
feedback
