Period 61 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE?
Lesson 1: (4,5,6)
A. Objectives:- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer
questions about school events.
- Language focus: + Vocabularies: review
+ Sentence patterns: review
- Practice skill: Listening, writing and singing.
- Resources: Student’s book, pictures and recording
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. Chatting
- T asks Ss answer
Ex: When will be? It’ll be on
- Review vocabulary and introduce new lessons
II. Listen and match.
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to and tick the correct picture.
- Have pupils look at pictures to identify the names of characters. Check their
understanding.
- Play the recording 3 times for Ss listen, do the task and check their answers.
- Get Ss to swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Give feedback

III. Read and match.
- Tell Ss that they are going to read and match the questions and with the
answers.
- Get Ss to read the questions and choose the best answer. - Give them time to do the task independently.Go around and offer help, if
necessary.
- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Call some Ss to read aloud the complete sentences.
Key: 1. b 2. c 3. e 4. a 5. d
IV. Let’s sing.
- Tell Ss that they are going to sing When will sports day be? song.
- Get Ss to read line of the lyrics. Play the recording all the way through.
- Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line.
- Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song.
- Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the
activity.
V. Reinforcement.
* Do Exercise:
- Have Ss do exercise C of unit 10 in workbook
- T corrects and feedback

Period 62 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE?
Lesson 2: (1,2,3)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer
questions about what someone is going to do/play on Sports Day.
- Language focus: + Vocabularies: only, until, ground, near, against,
basketball, badminton
+ Sentence patterns: What are you going to do on Sports Day? – I’m going
to
- Practice skill: Listening, speaking
- Resources: Student’s book, pictures, tape
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. sing
- Have Ss sing a song
II. Look, Listen and repeat.
- Tell pupils that they are going to read a story about what someone is going to
do on Sports Day.
- Have Ss to look at four pictures to discuss the context in which the language
is used and ask them questions such as: Who are they? What are they talking
about?
- Play the recording a few times for Ss to listen and repeat. Do choral and
individual repetition, poiting to the characters speaking. Ask a few pairs to role-
play the conversation.
- Write model sentence on the board.
A: What are you going to do on Sports Day?
B: I’m going to play table tennis.
- Ss listen and repeat again. (T – Ss, Ss –T, Ss – Ss, open pairs – close pairs)
III. Point and say. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering the questions
about animals.
- Have Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used.
- Teach some vocabulary: only, until, ground, near, against, basketball,
badminton
- Ask Ss to listen and repeat more times the phrases chorally and individually.
Repeat the same produce with the rest of pictures.
- Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class.
- Check Ss’ mistake when necessary.
- Write the questions and answer on the board and Ss to repeat again.
Ex: A: What are you going to do on Sports Day?
B: I’m going to .
IV. Let’s talk.
- Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions:
When will be? It’ll be on ..
What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to .
- Do the task with two Ss. Put questions and answers on the board and do
choral and individual repetition.
- Ask them to work in pairs to prepare exchanges based on the questions
provided.
- Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct
pronunciation, if necessary.
V. Reinforcement.

- Have Ss do exercise D of unit 10 in workbook
- T corrects and feedback

Period 63 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE?
Lesson 2: (4,5,6)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen and write
about what someone is going to do/play on Sports Day.
- Language focus: + Vocabularies: review
+ Sentence patterns: review
- Practice skill: Listening, writing.
- Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures .
B. Procedure.
I. Warm up. * Chatting
Ex: When will be? It’ll be on ..
What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to .
- Ss answer.
II. Listen and number.
- Tell Ss that they are going to listen and number the pictures
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures and help them to identify the meanings of the
symbols in the pictures.
- Play the recording more than one for Ss to listen and complete the sentences.
Do the task and check their answer.
- Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class.
- T gives feedback.

III. Write about you.
- Tell Ss that they are going to write the answers to the questions.
- Ask Ss to read the questions and think about the answers and check their
understanding.
- Give Ss time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help, if necessary.
- Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Call some Ss to read aloud the complete sentences and correct.

IV. Let’s play.
- Tell Ss that they are going to play Pass the secret!
- T explains how the game is played .
- Give Ss time to do the game. Go around and offer help, if necessary.
- Call some Ss to read aloud the question and put them on the board.
- Invite some pairs to practise asking and answering the questions. T gives
feedback

Period 64 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE?
Lesson 3: (1,2,3)
A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to say questions and
answers with the correct sentence stress. Listen and read for specific information
- Language focus: + Stress: sentences
+ Vocabularies: Review
+ Sentence patterns: Review
- Practice skill: Listening, writing and speaking chant.
- Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures and tape.
B. Procedures.
I. Warm up: Sing a song
When will sprts day be? song.
- T asks Ss answer some questions.
II. Listen and repeat.
- Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the
correct sentence stress
- Put the sentences on the board. Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat a few
times.
- Play the recording a few times and let Ss say the words and phrases, paying
attention to the target sounds.
- Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds. Call Ss repeat again.
III. Listen and underlined the stressed words. Then say the sentences
aloud.
- Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four sentences and underline the
stressed words.
- Play the recording more than once for Ss listen and circle the answers.
- Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class.
- Ask Ss to read the sentences aloud.

IV. Let’s chant.
- Tell Ss that they are going to do the chant: What are they going to do?
- Have Ss to read the chant and check comprehension
- Play the recording more than once for Ss to listen. Ss do choral and
individual repetition.
- Show them how to chant and actions. Divide the class into three groups, each
group singing one of the chant.
- Call some pairs to the front of class to chant and do actions. The rest of the
class claps the syllables.
V. Reinforcement.
* Do Exercise.
- Have Ss do exercise A of unit 10in workbook
- T corrects and feedback
