WEEK 12 Tuesday, November 30th 2021 S: 5BT2; 5AT3 Period 32 UNIT 7: HOW DO YOU LEARN ENGLISH? Lesson 3 (1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Say the questions and the answers with the correct sentence stress. 'How do you 'practise 'speaking? ̶ I 'speak 'English 'every 'day. 'How do you 'practise 'reading? ̶ I 'read 'English 'comic 'books. 'How do you 'practise 'writing? ̶ I 'write 'emails to my 'friends. 'Why do you 'learn 'English? ̶ Be'cause I 'want to 'sing 'English 'songs. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct verb phrases completing the sentences. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant How do you learn English? 2. Skills. - Develop Ss’ speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - Love school subjects, love to learn English 4. Forming competence: - Prepare their own school things - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends, ready to help their friends. - Apply what they have learned to solve learning tasks B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Revision C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book. - Audio track: - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector: CDs player, stereo, TV, STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm up - Invite some pupils to read their answers in Lesson 2, Activity 5. - Lead into new lesson * New lesson Activity 1: Listen and repeat. - Tell the class that they are going to practice saying the sentences, paying attention to sentence stress. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen first. - Play the recording again for them to repeat the sentences twice - Ask pupils to read the sentences until pupils feel confident. - Get some pupils to say the words and sentences in front of the class. - Correct mistakes of pronunciation Activity 2: Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. -Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording, circle a or b to complete the sentences. - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the words to fill the gaps. - Play the recording twice for pupils to listen, circle a or b. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check. Ask the class to read the sentences aloud. - Give the correct answers. * Key: 1. b 2. a 3. a 4. b Activity 3: Let’s chant - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant: How do you learn English? - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole chant, show pupils how to chant and do the actions - Get pupils to work in pairs to practice chanting and doing the action. - Invite some pairs to say the chant and do actions in front of the class - Give feedback. - Ask the whole class to say the chant and clap along to the rhythm of the chant. C. Production - Summary the lesson D. Homework - Tell pupils to practice chanting again at home Tuesday, November 30th 2021 ST3: 5AT4; ST5: 5BT3 Period 33 UNIT 7: HOW DO YOU LEARN ENGLISH? Lesson 1 (4); Lesson 3 (5,6) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about how someone learns English. - Listen and tick the correct pictures. - Read and fill the gapped paragraph, using the words provided. - Sing the song How do you learn English? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: The song lyrics 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English. - Help Ss find out their most suitable and efficient ways of learning English. 4. Forming competence: - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem by themselves - Use language to talk about how someone learns English. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: speak English / speak English every day, listen to English / watch English cartoons on TV, write English / write emails to my friends, read English / read short stories C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book. - Audio track: - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector: CDs player, stereo, TV, STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm up - Invite three pupils to act out the story in activity 1. - Call two pairs of pupils to ask and answer the question, using: How do you practise ...? I ... - Lead into new lesson. * New lesson Activity 1: Listen and tick. - Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct pictures. - Ask them to look at the pictures to identify the characters and what they do to practise English. - Play the recording the second time for pupils to listen and tick the boxes. - Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. - Ask pupils to give answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check -Give correct answers. Key: 1 N 2 Y 3 N Activity 2: Write about how your friend learns English. - Tell pupils that they are going to write about how their friends learn English. - Give them time to read and complete the gapped sentences, using information about their friends. - Remind pupils to use the structure learn ... by -ing ... in their writing. - Ask pupils to do the task independently. - Go around offering help, if necessary. - Ask pupils to write their answers on the board. - Give feedback. Key: Activity 3: Project - Tell the class that they are going to work in groups of three and discuss how they practice listening, speaking, reading and writing English. - Ask pupils to copy the table below and take notes Name listen speak read write 1 2 - Give pupils time to complete the table. - Invite two pupils to report the results to the class. - Give feedback C. Production - Summary the lesson D. Homework - Tell pupils to do exercises in workbook. Wednsday, December 01rd 2021 ST4: 5AT4; ST5: 5BT4 Period 34 UNIT 8: WHAT ARE YOU READING? Lesson 1 (1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what story/book someone is reading. - Sentence Patterns: What are you reading? – I’m reading ____. - Vocabulary: The Fox and the Crow, The Story of Mai An Tiem, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 2. Skills. - Develop listening reading and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English. 4. Forming competence: - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves - Use language to talk about what story/book someone is reading. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: The Fox and the Crow, The Story of Mai An Tiem, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs C. Where are they? What are they doing? - Play the recording for pupils to listen to the tape. - Play the recording again and ask them to repeat a few times. - Explain new word: ghost. - Say aloud the words, then ask pupils to repeat the words a few times - Have pupils write down the new words into their notebook. - Play the recording again for them to repeat line by line. - Ask pupils to practice in pairs to act out the dialogue. - Go round and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue. - Check some pairs. Ask other pupils to give comments. - Give comments. Activity 2: Point and say. - Tell the class that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about how someone learns English, using: * Structure: What are you reading? I’m reading ... - Explain the meaning of the new words: fox, crow, magic, lamp, dwarf; then say it aloud for pupils to repeat. - Read aloud the phrases in each picture for pupils to repeat. -Ask pupils to write down new words and the structure in their notebook. - Have pupils practice asking and answering in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice in front of the class - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation. Activity 3: Let’s talk - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about what book they are reading. - Get pupils time to work in pairs to ask and answer, using the structure. - Invite a few pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class. - Give feedback C. Production - Do exercises in work book, learn by heart the new words and the structure. D. Homework - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again.
