Period: 17 UNIT 3: WHAT DAY IS IT TODAY?
Lesson 3 (1,2,3)
I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge
- Pronounce the sounds of the letters ir, ur and er in the words first,
Thursday and her respectively.
- Pronounce the letter clusters ir in first, ur in Saturday, and er in her.
- Listen and circle the correct words completing the gapped sentences.
Then say the sentences aloud.
- Say the chant: What do you do on ?
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
* Objective for students with disabilities Loc, Khánh.
The teacher guides the students to read some simple words and sentences.
2. Skills: Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality
- Ss love their countries.
- To help Ss know how to make friends.

- Have Ss play the game:
- Slap the board.
Task 1. Listen and repeat
- Have Ss look at words in part 1.
- Let Ss pay attention to the letters colored.
- Have Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ir” and “ur” “er”.
- Play the CD and ask Ss to listen. - Play the CD again and ask Ss to repeat each line of the text in chorus.
- Have Ss read in groups/ in pairs.
- Check some ss..
Task 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud.
- Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to circle.
- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and circle.
- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer:
- Have pupils to write on the board the sentences.
- Check and correct.
- The teacher guides Loc and Khanh to read some simple words and
sentences:
Task 3. Let’s chant
- Tell Ss that they are going to chant
- Have them read the chant and help them the difficult words
- Play the recording (3 times)
- Divide the class into 2 Gs: one chants the Qs and other chants the
answers.
- Let Ss report (note s in Fridays )
- Read aloud part 1
- Chant again.
Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments
- Retell the content of the lesson.
- Do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next new lesson.

- Write about themselves, using the guiding questions.
- Interview a classmate about what he / she does at the weekend.

- Vocabulary: Revision.

The teacher guides the students to read some simple words and sentences.

- Have Ss read and do the task.

Task 6. Project
- Ask Ss to ask one and complete the card. Then report the results to the
