WEEK 33 Thursday, May 04th 2023 S: 4AT4 Period: 129 UNIT 20 WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS SUMMER? Lesson 2 (4,5,6) I. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer question about what someone plans to do. - Look, read, listen, tick the pictures, and complete the sentences. - Read the question, and complete the answers, using the pictures. - Play the game Say where. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: Revision - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by playing Spot the odd one out. Follow the procedure in Games in Introduction. You may use the names of the places and phrases of future plans that Ps have learnt in the previous lesson. Task 1. Listen and circle. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to four dialogues about Phong and circle correct pictures. - Have Ps look at the sentences to read the sentences to identify the possible words to fill the gaps. Then have Ps to look at the pictures and guess what Phong is going to do in summer. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for pupils to listen to and circle the pictures. - Ask them to focus on what Phong is going to do in summer. Them have them complete the sentences. - Get Ps to swap their answers before you check as a class. Key: 1. a 2. b 3. a 4.a Task 2. Look and write. - Tell Ps that they are going to write the answers to the question what are they going to do? - Ask Ps to look at the incomplete to identify the missing information they need to fill in. Then ask Ps to look at the pictures to identify what the Ps are going to do. After that, have them find appropriate phrases to complete the sentences. - Give Ps time to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. If there is enough time, call some pairs of pupils to act out the dialogues. Task 3. Let’s play. - Tell Ps that they are going to play the game Say where - Put a large map of Viet Nam on the board and highlight some major cities/ places. - Ask Ps: ? Where are you going this summer holiday? - The first P in group 1 answers : + We’re going to + (name of a place) - The first Ps in the other two groups have to find the place on the map and point at it. The quicker Ps wins a point for the group. - The groups take turns to answer the question and the Ps who have answered or pointed should go to the end of the queues. - After all Ps have had a go, the group with the most points is the winner. Then ask another three groups to play the game. You may ask the winners to play a final. - Have the whole class to ask and answer questions to circle in the class. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next new lesson. * Comment Friday, May 05th 2023 S: 4AT4 Period: 130 UNIT 20 WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO THIS SUMMER? Lesson 3 (1,2,3) I. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce three-syllable words with the stress on the second syllable: de'licious, e'normous, No'vember, and De'cember. - Read the gapped sentences, listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gaps. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant: Where are you going? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Listening, writing and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family. 4. Forming competence - Communication and co-operation. - Problem solving and creativity II. LANGUAGE FOCUS * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence: Revision - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Review- Cards. * Warm-up: - Greeting - Have Ps to practice asking and answering questions about future places. Task 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ps to open their book on page 68 - Tell the class that we are going to practise pronouncing the words: de’licious, e’normous, No’vember, De’cember. - Ask Ps to look at the words on the board. Pronounce the focused sounds a few times as in model in chorus, pairs and groups. - Play the recording for Ps to listen and repeat the words a few times. - Do choral and individual repetition of the words and sentences until Ps feel confident. - Ask Ps to repeat the sentences, while the rest of the class claps at the stress syllables of the target words. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Task 2. Listen, circle and write. Then say aloud. - Tell Ps that we are going to listen to the recording and complete the sentences. - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the word to fill the gap of each sentence. You may ask Ps to say the words aloud. - Play the recording for Ps to listen a few times. - Ask Ps to listen to the recording and circle the correct answers. - Give Ps to time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Write the correct answers on the board for Ps copy down into their books. - Then ask Ps to say aloud the sentences in chorus, pairs and groups - Feedback, correct and remark. Give answers: 1 - b, 2 - b, 3 – a, 4-a. Task 3. Let’s chant. - Tell Ps that we are going to say the chant. “Where are you going?” - Have Ps to read the chant and check comprehension. - Follow the procedure in teaching the Unit components in the introduction. - Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do the actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm of the chant. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next new lesson. * Comment s
