Lesson Plan 4 WEEK 25 Monday, March 15th 2021 S: 4AT2; 4BT3 Period 97 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 2: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to asking and answering the questions about what people do at a festival. - Language focus: + Vocabularies: make chung cake, decorate the house, firework displays. + Sentence patterns: What do you do at Tet? I wear nice clothes. - Practice skill: Listening ,speaking - Resources: Student’s book, pictures, tape B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Sing - Have Ss sing a song Happy New Year - Call some Ss to sing. II. Look, Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to two boys asking and answering questions about what people usually do at a festival. - Have Ss look at the picture and identify the characters and the context in which the language is used. - Play the recording more than once. Ss listen and repeat. - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Call some pairs to read the conversation. - Write the whole sentences on the board A: What do you do at Tet? B: I wear nice clothes. - Ss point and read after T , T-Ss, Ss- Ss (open pairs/ close pairs) III. Point and say. - Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering questions what people do at Tet. Point to each character in the picture and the words to fill the gaps. - Teach vocabulary: make chung cake, decorate the house, firework displays. - Divide the class into two groups to do choral and individal repetition. Ss repeat the sentences a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class. Let’s talk. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering more activities - Get them to work in groups of four and remind them to use the questions and answers in this section. Ss do choral and individual repetition. - Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Ex: A: When is New year? B: It’s on January the first A: What do you do at Tet? B: I wear nice clothes. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise - Have Ss do exercise D of unit 15 in workbook - T corrects and feedback VI. Homelink. - Learn by heart vocabulary and structure Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 2 - Lesson Plan 4 Tuesday, March 16th 2021 S: 4AT1; 4BT2 Period 98 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 2: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to asking and answering the questions about what people do at a festival. - Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review - Practice skill: Listening, writing, playing. - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures . B. Procedure I. Warm up. * Chatting - Tell Ss that they are going to answer the question . - Call some pairs to talk in front of the class Ex: A: When is New year? B: It’s on January the first A: What do you do at Tet? B: I wear nice clothes. II. Listen and circle. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four dialouges and circle the phrases to complete the answers to the question what do you do at Tet? - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and identify what the characters in eache picture. Check Ss’ understanding. - Play the recording for Ss to listen and number the pictures - Play the recording for Ss to listen and check their anwser. - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class. - Ask a few questions to ensure their comprehension for the listening text. *Answer: 1. a 2.b 3. b 4.a III. Look and write. - Tell Ss that they are going to complete the sentences about what the characters do at Tet, using the picture cues. - Ask them to look at pictures and sentences to find the suitable words to fill. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class and call some Ss to read aloud the completed text. * Key: 1. go shopping 2. decorate the/ their house. 3. make banh chung 4. visit their grandparents. IV. Let’s play. Physical line-up - Tell Ss that they are going to play game. - Ask them to play small groups. - Call on some of them to say the answers V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise - Have Ss do exercise E of unit 15 in workbook - T corrects and feedback VI. Homelink. - Learn by heart vocabulary and structure. Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 4 - September Lesson Plan 4 Wednesday, March 17th 2021 S: 4BT3; 4AT4 Period 99 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 3: (1,2,3) A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to pronounce correctly the sound of the letters “cl” and “fl”. Listen and read for specific information. - Language focus: + Phonics: the letter “cl” and “fl”. + Vocabularies: Review + Sentence patterns: Review - Practice skill: Listening, writing and speaking chant. - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures and tape. B. Procedures: I. Warm up: *Slap on the board - Have ss play the game. - Play game in 2 groups. firework Teachers’ Day New Year Children’s day - Read in chorus. II. Listen and repeat. * Phonics. - Student practice how to pronounce the letter “cl, fl” Ex: cl /cl/ : clothes, close fl /fl/: flowers, floor - Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying the sounds of the letters “cl, fl” in the words: clothes, close, flowers, floor reading respectively. - Put the letters “ cl, fl” on the board. Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat a few times. Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 5 - Lesson Plan 4 - Play the recording a few times and let Ss say the words and phrases, paying attention to the target sounds. - Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds. Call Ss repeat again. III. Listen and circle. Then say sentences with the circled. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to two sentences and circle the correct words. - Play the recording more than once. - Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Ask Ss to read the sentences aloud. *Key: 1. flowers 2. close 3. clothes 4. floor IV. Let’s chant: What do you do at Tet. - Tell Ss that they are going to say and chant. - Play the recording for Ss to listen. - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat each line and clap the syllables. - Divide the class into two. One group repeats each line of the chant, the other clap the syllables.Repeat the step but this time the groups swap their parts. - Call some volunteers to recite the chants. The rest of the class clap the syllables. - Ask all the class repeat the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise. - Have Ss do exercise A of unit 15 in workbook - T corrects and feedback VI. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to practice reading and writing about when a festival is, what people do at a festival. - Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review - Practice skill: Reading, writing, speaking . - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures, tape. B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Let’s chant - Whose class chant II. Read and write. - Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and complete the sentences - Get Ss to read the text and focus on the information to complete the sentences. - Work in individual.Check and compare the answer with the partner. - Call on some Ss to report their answers. - Make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the sentences. - Have the whole class read each sentence in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation *Answer: 1. Tet. 2. flowers. 3. their house, banh chung. 4. the firework displays. 5. Their grandparents, teacher, friends III. Write about your Tet. - Tell Ss that they are going to write a short paragraph about Tet. They may use the information from Activity 4. - Have Ss work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to fill the gaps with. - Give Ss time to do the task independently. - Get them swap their writing and call someone to read aloud their answer. Explain the task and check understanding. - Get a pair to do for example. Put the following on the board as example. - Get Ss time to do the interview their friends, Call on some Ss to report their answers - For example: To: Thanh Nam Wishes: Happy New Year!
