Lesson Plan 4 WEEK 23 Monday, March 01st 2021 S: 4AT2; 4BT3 Period 89 UNIT 14: WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE? Lesson 1: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer the questions about someone’s physical appearance -Language focus: + Vocabularies: words about someone’s physical appearance + Sentence patterns: What does he/she look like? - He is/She is .... -Practice skill: listening and speaking -Resources: Student’s book, tape, pictures... B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Chatting game. Who is this?/ What is her job?/ What is her favourite food? / What is her favourite drink? - Have Ss answer 1. Look, Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to look at the four pictures and read the story, then ask and answer the questions about her brother - Ask Ss to look at four pictures to identify the characters and discuss the context in which the language is used. Ask Ss some question Who are they? Where are they? What are they doing? . - Play the recording more than once to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Call some pairs to read the conversation. - Write the whole sentences on the board A: What does she look like? B: She is tall - Ss point and read after T , T-Ss, Ss- Ss (open pairs/ close pairs) 2. Point and say. - Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about someone’s physical appearance. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit the words to fill the gaps. - Give vocabulary: adjectives Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 1 - Lesson Plan 4 - Write the whole sentences on the board. Divide the class into two groups to do choral and individal repetition. Ss repeat the sentences a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check Ss’ mistake when necessary. Ex: A: What does she/he look like? B: She’s/he’s .. 3. Let’s talk. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering more activities - Get them to work in groups of four and remind them to use the questions and answers in this section. Ss do choral and individual repetition. - Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Ex: A: What does look like? B: . II. Reinforcement. Do Exercise. - Have Ss do exercise B of unit 14 in workbook - T corrects and feedback III. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer the questions about someone’s physical appearance. And listen for specific information. -Language focus: + Vocabularies: review. + Sentence patterns: review -Practice skill: Listening, writing and singing. -Resources: Student’s book, pictures and recording B. Procedure: I. Warm up: * Chatting Ex: A: What does she look like? - B: She is tall - T asks Ss say aloud. II. Listen and tick. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the dialogue about someone’s physical appearance and tick correct pictures. - Have pupils look at pictures to identify the time and differences and listen and check understanding. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for Ss to listen to and tickthe correct pictures. - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as class. *Key: 1c 2 c 3a III. Look and write. - Tell Ss that they are going to complete the answers about someone’s appearance, using the picture cues. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and write the answer the missing words they need to complete the answers. Check understanding. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to make comparison someone’s physical appearance - Language focus: + Vocabularies: tall-taller, short-shorter, big-bigger, old- older, young-younger + Sentence patterns: Who’s taller? My brother is taller than my father - Practice skill: Listening ,speaking - Resources: Student’s book, pictures, tape B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Find someone who - Have Ss play Find someone who - Call some Ss to play. II. Look, Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to two boys asking and answering questions about their family members. - Have Ss look at the picture and identify the characters and the context in which the language is used. - Play the recording more than once. Ss listen and repeat. - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Write the whole sentences on the board A: Who’s taller? Lesson 2: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to make comparison someone’s physical appearance - Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review - Practice skill: Listening, writing .playing. - Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures . B. Procedure I. Warm up. * Chatting - Tell Ss that they are going to answer the question . - Call some pairs to talk in front of the class Ex: A: What does she look like? B: She is tall A: Who’s taller? B: My mother is taller than my sister II. Listen and circle. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to nam’s decription of his family and circle the correct answers. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and identify what the characters in eache picture - Check Ss’ understanding. - Play the recording for Ss to listen and number the pictures - Play the recording for Ss to listen and check their anwser. - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class. - Ask a few questions to ensure their comprehension for the listening text. *Answer: 1. a 2.a 3. b 4. b III. Look and write. - Tell Ss that they are going to complete the answers to the questions to make comparisons of people’s appearance, using the picture cues. Teacher: Trần Thị Hạnh - 7 - Lesson Plan 4 - Ask them to look at pictures and sentences to find the suitable words to fill. - Give them time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class and call some Ss to read aloud the completed text. * Key: 1. the brother is slimmer than the father 2. The mother is shorter than the father. 3. The sister is older than the brother 4. The brother is stronger than the father. IV. Let’s sing. - Tell Ss that they are going to sing the song: What do they look like? - Get Ss to read line of the lyrics. Play the recording all the way through. - Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line. - Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song. - Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the activity.
