WEEK 20 Tuesday, January 25th 2022 C: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period 56 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 1 (1, 2) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES I. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer about when a festival is. - Pupils can ask and answer questions about when a festival is. - Sentence Patterns: When is .? − It’s on _______. - Vocabulary: New Year, the first of January; Children’s Day, the first of June; Teachers’ Day, the twentieth of November; Christmas, the twenty-fifth of December 2. Skills: - Develop Ss reading, speaking and listening skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. Language focus * Key terms: New Year, the first of January; Children’s Day, the first of June; Teachers’ Day, the twentieth of November; Christmas, the twenty-fifth of December * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: When is .? − It’s on _______. C. Instructional resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Get some Ss to go to the front of the class to talk about their family members. Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat *Use the pictures about some festivals to teach the new words: New Year, Children’s Day, Teacher’ Day, Christmas, party - Whole class. Have pupils turn their books to page 30 and look at picture. - Ask Ss to answer the questions “who are they? Where are they? What are they talking about? What is the date? What’s it about? - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Open one by one sentence for Ss to listen and repeat. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask the groups to repeat Tom’s part and Mai’s part. - Ask SS to work in pairs, practice speaking the conversation. - Invite some pairs to demonstrate the dialogue. Activity 2: Point and say - Ask Pupils to look at Picture a, b, c, d, e. Tell them that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about the popular festivals. - Model with a Student the first picture - Ask Pupils to practice in pairs ask and answer the questions: When’s New Year?- It’s on . - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. C. Production - Summary the lesson - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again. D. Homework - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the structure. Wednsday, January 26th 2022 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period 57 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 2 (1, 2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what people do at a festival. - Pupils can ask and answer questions about what the other speaker does at Tet. - Sentence Patterns: What do you do at Tet? ̶ I _________. - Vocabulary: make banh chung, decorate the house, watch firework displays, visit grandparents 2. Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. Language focus * Key terms: make banh chung, decorate the house, watch firework displays, visit grandparents * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: What do you do at Tet? ̶ I _________. C. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Call some Ss to sing the song Happy New Year in front of the class. - Ask Ps to ask and answer the questions about the festivals. Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat. * Use pictures to teach some new words about activities at/ on a festival: make banh chung, decorate the house, firework displays, get lucky money. - Have pupils look at pictures in part 1 and answer the questions: “Who are they? Where are they? What are they doing? Picture a: Mai is decorating the house; P b: Mai is wearing new clothes; ”. - Tell them that they are going to look at the dialogue in their student’s book, listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat line by line. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask the groups to repeat Linda’s part and Mai’s part. Activity 2: Point and say. - Have Pupils look at Picture a, b, c. Tell them that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about some activities on Tet. - Model with a Student the first picture. - Ask Pupils to practise in pairs asking and answering questions about some activities on Tet, using the prompts in the bubbles and words under the pictures. Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class. Activity 3: Let’s talk - Ask them to work in groups to ask answer questions about some activities on/ at a festival, using What do you do at/ on +(a festival)? I ? - Go around offering help and correcting pronunciation, if necessary. - Select some groups to role-play in front of the class. - Ask pupils to ask and answer questions about some activities on/ at a festival. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. C. Production - Select some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. D. Homework - Review the language of the lesson. Friday, January 28th 2022 S: 4BT2; 4AT3; 4C4 Period 58 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? Lesson 3 (1, 2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the initial letter clusters cl in clothes, close, and fl in flower and floor. - Listen and complete the sentences. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant What do you do at Tet? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: Listening, writing and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family. 4.Forming competence: - Communication and co-operation. - problem solving and creativity *Disability student: Listen and repeat, Look and copy down. B. Language focus * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: Revision C. Instructional resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Ask Ps to play the game Physical line- up in groups Activity 1: Listen and repeat. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise saying the sound of the letters cl in the word clothes, close and fl in flower, floor respectively. - Put the letters th on the board. Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. - Put the words: clothes, close, flower, floor and the four sentences on the board. - Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. - Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds words and sentences until pupils feel confident - Get some Ps to say the letters, the words and the sentences in front of the class. Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary Activity 2: Listen and write. Then say aloud. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the four sentences and write the correct words. - Ask them to look at the sentences and guess the words to fill the gaps - Play the recording so they can listen and tick the words. Remind Ps to focus on the sound of the letters cl and fl while listening. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers. - Ask Ps to read aloud the sentences - Play the recording again for Ps to check if necessary. Key : 1- flower 2- Close 3- clothes 4- floor. Activity 3: Let’s chant. - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant What do you do at Tet follow the procedure in teaching the unit components in introduction - Have them read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording more than one, if necessary, for pupils listen and repeat. - Show Ps how to chant and do the action. - Divide the class into group of four and call two group of Ps to give the demonstration. Ask the groups to sit opposite of each other. Go around and offer help if necessary. - Call two groups to the front of the class chant and do the action. The rest of the class claps along the rhythm C. Production - Retell the content of the lesson. D. Homework - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures
