WEEK 2 Monday, September 20th 2021 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period: 2 UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN Lesson 2 (1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. Objectives By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Say and respond to goodbye. - Listen and read for specific information. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: good morning; Good evening; Good afternoon * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Good _________. C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4: Student’s book. - Computer & Projector: CDs player, stereo, TV, STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up Game: Jumbled words (Using the words: good morning; Good evening; Good afternoon) - Ask sts to go to the board and write their answers. - Give feedback. Activity 1: Language input (Act 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Who are they? (Linda, Mai and Miss Hien) 2. Where are they? (at Miss Hien’s school) 3. Look at picture “What are they doing? They are getting up - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the pictures twice. - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the story. Explain what each character says. Check comprehension and give constructive feedback. - Play Track 1 (Activity 1), point at each speech bubble for Ss to listen and repeat the sentence(s) twice. - Point at each bubble for Ss to read the sentence(s). - Elicit the sentence patterns “ Good ” the conversation, explain the meaning and use of the sentence patterns. Activity 2: Controlled and guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Act 2: Point and say.) - Set the scene for sts to elicit the pattern: Good _________. Good ________. - Ask sts to work in pairs based on the pictures on the book then practise freely. - Move around to offer help. - Call on some pairs to perform the task. Task 2: Guided practice (Let’s talk) - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 4. Remind Ss to greet each other, say their names, and ask and answer about name. - Give a model first and then ask students to do the activity in groups of 4. Model: Good _________. Good ________. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: Good _________. (Talk about greeting) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 1, Lesson 3 on pages 9). Wednsday, September 22th 2021 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period: 3 UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN Lesson 3 (1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - pronounce the sounds l and n in the words Linda and night and in the sentences Hello, Linda and Good night - Develop listening, writing skills. - Know how to read the chant “ Hello, friends”. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Linda, night * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Good _________. C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4: Student’s book, handmade puppets, robot-teacher, photographs of greeting. - Audio track: - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector STAGE 2: LEARNING PLAN/ LEARNING EXPERIENCES Activity 1: Warmer - Check the old lesson. - Lead in the new lesson. Activity 2: Presentation (Listen and repeat - page 10) - Have sts to open the book page 10, draw their attention to the letters colored differently in the words Linda and night - Produce the sound of the letter l and n. - Have sts repeat the focused sounds a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask sts to repeat. - Monitor the activity and offer help. - Call on someone to pronounce. - Have the whole class recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 3: Listening practice (Activity 3: Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud page 10) - Ask sts to turn to Page 10 of the Student Book. - Give instruction. - Play the tape twice. - Ask them to listen and circle the answers. - Check sts’ notebook. - Call someone to write on the board then say it aloud. - Check and correct mistakes. Activity 4: Game “Slap the sounds.” - Put Ss in pairs. - Give each pair 2 cards (one with l sound and one with n sound) - Elicit more words containing l and n from Ss as a whole class. example: l: Linda, line, n: night, - Ask Ss to put both cards on their desks. - Say one word, Ss listen and slap the correct card according to the l or n sounds. - Say a word/sentence containing l or n, Ss slap at the cards at their desks. Activity 5: Game: “Phonic clap” - Elicit the actions for the words that given in activity 4. - Lay out the model: Clap+ Say the letters, hifi + sound, word + mime on the board and explain how to play the game. Example: say l+ clap, hifi + /n, say the word Linda+ mime (Linda) - Have Ss play the game in pairs. T goes around and give helps if necessary. Activity 6: Chant practice (Activity 3: Let’s chant on page 10) - Present the chant “Hello, friend.” Get Ss to read the lyrics in silence, check comprehension and give feedback. - Play audio track 1 (activity 3 page 10) for Ss to repeat each line twice. - Show Ss how to mime the chant. - Get Ss to practice the chant in groups. Encourage them to perform the chant with appropriate and meaningful gestures. - Call on some groups to perform the chant in front of the class. Activity 7: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to say some sentences: Hello . (learn the new sounds /l/, /n/ in some words and sentences, practice and perform the chant with appropriate and meaningful gestures.) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 1, Lesson 3- Activities 4-5-6 on page 11). Friday, September 24th 2021 S: 4BT1; 4CT2; 4AT3 Period: 4 UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN Lesson 1 (4); Lesson 2 (4); Lesson 3 (5,6) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES A. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Develop listening, writing skills. - Know how to write a card about myself B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Linda, night * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Good _________. B. Language Focus - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 4: Student’s book, handmade puppets, robot-teacher, photographs of greeting. - Audio track: - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: * Warm-up - Ask sts to read the chant on page 10 individually and chorally. Activity 2: Presentation (Look and write) - Tell Ss that they are going to fill the gaps with morning, afternoon or bye. - Give them a few seconds to look at the pictures. - Give them time to do the task independently.Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call some Ss to read aloud the complete sentences. (Listen and number) - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four dialogues and number the pictures. - Ask Ss to look at the pictures and identify each activity. - Play the recording more than one for Ss to listen and number the pictures - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class. - T gives feedback. (Write about you) - Tell Ss that they are going to write a short paragraph about themselves. - Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently. Go around and offer help. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call one student to write the answer on the board if there is time. Project practice. (Project) - Tell Ss that they are going to do a project. - Explain the activities and check understanding. - Give each pupil a small card. Let Ss copy the four categories from the book onto their cards. - Ask them to write the information about themselves. - Get them to swap their cards in pairs. - Call some Ss to the front of the class and tell the class about their partners Activity 5: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to say some sentences: . - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 2, Lesson 1- Activities 1-2 on page 12).
