WEEK 14 Monday, December 13th 2021 S: 4AT1; 4BT2; 4CT3 Period 38 UNIT 9: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Lesson 2 (1, 2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES I. Objectives - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what people are doing. - Sentence Patterns: What are they doing? − They’re ___. - Vocabulary: painting masks, making a puppet, playing badminton, making paper planes 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about their class - Practise in pairs B. Language focus * Key terms: painting masks, making a puppet, playing badminton, making paper planes * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: What are they doing? − They’re ___. C. Instructional resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Call some pupils to the front of the class to ask and answer questions about activities happening in the classroom, using What’s he/ she doing? He’s/She’s ... - Lead into new lesson Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Introduce picture and ask some questions about the situations in the picture: Who’s this? Where are they? What are they talking about? - Play the recording and ask pupils to look at their book and listen to the tape. - Explain new words: making a paper boat, painting masks, making a puppet, making paper planes. - Say aloud the words, then ask pupils to repeat the words a few times - Play the recording again and ask them to repeat a few times. - Have pupils write down the new words into their notebooks - Ask pupils work in pairs to practice the dialogue. - Go around and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue. - Check some pairs. - Others give comments. - Give comments. Activity 2: Point and say - Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about what people are doing, using: *Structure: What are they doing? They’re ... - Say aloud the structure for pupils to repeat. - Call some pupils to read it aloud. - Ask pupils to write down them into their notebook. - Call on an open pair to the front of the class to give a model practice. - Ask pupils to work in pairs, then point at the timetable to ask and answer using the structure. - Call some pairs to practice the structure in front of the class. - Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation Activity 3: Let's talk - Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about where their classmates are and what they are doing, using Where is he/she? What’s he/she doing? Where are they? and What are they doing? - Ask them to work in pairs: one asks the questions and the other gives the answers. - Set a time limit for the class to practice - Go around the class and offer help, if necessary. - Call a few pairs to act out their conversation. - Give feedback. C. Production - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures again and the pattern. D. Lesson 3 (1, 2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the sound of the letters sk and xt in the words mask and text respectively. - Listen and tick the correct words filling the gapped sentences. Then complete the sentences and read them aloud. - Say the chant What’s he doing? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Develop Ss listening, speaking skills, 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Confident when talking English - United friend 4. Forming competence: - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs B. Language focus * Key terms: Revision * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: Revision C. Instructional resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer. - Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up - Have Ss play the game: Lucky numbers. + Ask ss to choose the number. 1. listening 6. painting 2. making 8. cooking 4. playing 3, 5,7: Lucky numbers Activity 1: Listen and repeat - Tell pupils that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters sk and xt in the words mask and text respectively. - Put the phonics letters sk and xt on the board and tell them a few times. - Ask pupils to look at their book, then play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat. - Ask pupils to read the letters, words and sentences until pupils feel confident. - Get some pupils to say the letters, words, and sentences in front of the class. - Correct mistakes of pronunciation. Activity 2: Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct boxes. - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the words to fill the gaps. - Play the recording twice for pupils to listen and tick. - Have them swap their answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check. - Ask pupils to read aloud the sentences. * Key: 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 b Activity 3: Let’s chant - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant: What’s he doing? - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole chant, show pupils how to chant and do the actions - Get pupils to work in pairs to practice chanting and doing the action. - Invite some pairs to say the chant and do actions in front of the class - Give feedback. - Ask the whole class to say the chant and clap along to the rhythm of the chant. C. Production - Retell the content of the lesson. - Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and structures again D. Homework Friday, December 17th 2021 S: 4BT2; 4AT3; 4C4 Period 40 UNIT 10: WHERE WERE YOU YESTERDAY? Lesson 1 (1, 2) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A.Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pupils can ask and answer questions about where the other speaker was the day before. - Sentence Patterns: Where were you yesterday? − I was ___. - Vocabulary: at home, at the zoo, on the beach, in the school library 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Love English - United friend 4. Forming competence: - To know talk about where they were. - Practise in pairs B. Language focus * Key terms: at home, at the zoo, on the beach, in the school library * Key grammatical structures - Sentence Patterns: here were you yesterday? − I was ___. C. Activity 1: Look, Listen and repeat - Tell Ss that they are going to find out about how to ask and answer questions about where someone was yesterday - Have them look at the pictures and discuss the context - Play the recording for S to listen and repeat for a few times - Ask S to role play - Call some pairs of S to role play in front of the class Activity 2: Point and say - Tell S that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about where someone was in the past - Have them look at the bubbles and identify where the people were yesterday - Teach how to use “to be” with the past Was is used with singular pronoun Were is used with plural ones - Teach the phrases: at home, at the zoo, on the beach, in the school library - Point to the first picture and teach them sentence pattern: Where were you yesterday?- I was at home. - Get them to practice asking and answering with the words given - Call on some pairs to act out the dialogues in front of the class * Work in pairs: - Ask S to work in pairs: ask your partners where they were yesterday - Select some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class C. Production In this lesson, S have learnt about past activities and asking- answering Where were you yesterday? D. Homework - Practice singing the song at home
