WEEK 1 Thursday, September 16th 2021 C: 3AT1 Period: 1 UNIT 1: HELLO Lesson 1 (1,2,3) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. Objectives By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - practice to greet and self-introduce themselves - know about the importance of English, classroom rules, commands. B. Language Focus * Key terms - Vocabulary: Hello, Hi, I, am, Nice to meet you * Key grammatical structures The sentence patterns: Hello/ Hi. I am Nam. C. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3: Student’s book. - Audio track: - Computer & Projector: CDs player, stereo, STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up Greeting Hello. I’m Huong. T asks some ps to reply. Activity 1: Language input (Act 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Who are they? (Nam, Mai and Miss Hien) 2. Where are they? (at Miss Hien’s school) 3. Look at picture “What are they doing? They are getting up - Have students look at the book, listen, and repeat the lines in the pictures twice. - Point at the pictures a, b, c, and d respectively to present the story. Explain what each character says. Check comprehension and give constructive feedback. - Play Track 1 (Activity 1), point at each speech bubble for Ss to listen and repeat the sentence(s) twice. - Point at each bubble for Ss to read the sentence(s). - Elicit the sentence patterns “Hello, I’m ” the conversation, explain the meaning and use of the sentence patterns. * Vocabulary Hello: xin chào Hi: Xin chào (dùng với bạn bè ngang tuổi) I: tôi, mình, tớ am: là Nice to meet you: Rất hân hạnh được gặp bạn. Checking: Slap the board Activity 2: Controlled and guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Act 2: Point and say.) - Use 4 pictures in activity 2 on page 6 to elicit the four activities: Miss Hien, Nam, Mai, Quan. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the words under the picture. - Show picture a and say “Hello ..” - Elicit the answer from Ss “Hello, .”. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the other pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. Task 2: Guided practice (Let’s talk) - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 4. Remind Ss to greet each other, say their names, and ask and answer about name. - Give a model first and then ask students to do the activity in groups of 4. Note: hello, hi Hello/ Hi. I am + tên. Hello/ Hi. I am Nam. - Call on one student from each group to report my name. - Give constructive feedback and comments on the reports and correct Ss’ mistakes if necessary. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: Hello, . (Talk about greeting) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 1, Lesson 1 on pages 7). D. Production - Summary the lesson E. Homework - Tell pupils to read the part 1 again. - Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the pattern. Instructional Resources - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3: Student’s book. - Audio track: - Song: Travel song - Computer & Projector STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN * Warm-up Greeting Call some individuals to come to the front to greet the class and say their names. Call three ss to sing the Song The Hello. T and class remark. Activity 1: Language input (Act 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Show students the situational pictures and ask the following questions to help them understand the communication situations in each picture. 1. Put the sentences on the board. Divide the class into two groups to do choral and individual repetition. Repeat the procedure with the second picture. Get pp to work in pairs. Check as a class. Task 2: Guided practice (Let’s talk) - Present the activity. Ask Ss’ to work in groups of 4. Remind Ss to greet each other, say their names, and ask and answer about name. - Give a model first and then ask students to do the activity in groups of 4. Note: Ask and answer about the health. - How are you? - I’m fine, thanks. /Fine, thank you. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: How are you?.......... (Talk about health) - Remind students to do exercises in the workbook and to prepare for the next lesson (Unit 1, Lesson 3 on pages 9).
