Period: 50 REVIEW 3: PHIL AND SUE
Listen and repeat, Look and circle
A.OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Listen and repeat the story.
- Vocabulary: Revision
- Structures: Revision
- Skills: Reading and writing.
2. Competences:
- Know how to practise some sounds.
- Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work.
3. Attitude/ Qualities:
- Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class.
Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love story Phil ans Sue, love
learning English
B. METHODS:
- Work in pairs, work in groups, ask and answer.
- Communicative approach, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by
visual, teaching methods by practicing, prediction.
C. TEACHING AIDS:
- Teacher: Posters, laptop, pictures, textbook, lesson plan, TV or projector.
- Students: Textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, school things.
D. PROCEDURES:

Game: Vietnamese whisper.
*Aims: to help ss review some
vocabulary that they learnt.
*Procedure:
- Divide the class into groups - SS listen and play
- Choose the leader of each group game.
- Explain the rule: The leader of each
group goes to the board and read the
words which T gives in silence. After
that they go back and whisper the
words with their groups. The last
person of each group will go to board
and write all the words on the board
- After finishing the game, the group
writes down all correct words is a
winner -SS open their book.
- T gets feedback.
- Say “Open your book page 20 and
look at Review 1- Phil and Sue
Activity 1. 1. Listen and repeat.
*Aims: Ss will be able to listen and
repeat the story.
*Procedure:
- Have pupils look at the pictures. Ask
them some questions about the
-Look at the picture and
pictures: Who are in the pictures?
listen.
What are they doing?... Then have
pupils guess the content of the story.
- Have pupils look at Picture 1, saying
Look at Picture 1, please!and describe -SS listen and say
the picture. Draw pupils’ attention to
the boy, the girl and the bubbles.
- Let pupils listen to the recording,
point to the sentence in the speech -Ss do the task.

- Follow the same procedure with
Pictures 2, 3 and 4. Correct -Ss repeat
pronunciation, if necessary. Give

point to the sentences in the speech -Ss tell their answer in
bubbles and repeat until they feel front of class
confident. Go around and offer help, if
necessary.
- Have pupils work in pairs, look at the
pictures and read aloud the story. Go
around to help or/and correct
pronunciation.
- Play the recording again and invite a
few pairs of pupils to listen to the
recording and repeat the story in front
of the class,
Activity 2. 2. Look and circle :
*Aims: Ss will be able to identify the
words for the pictures by circling them.
*Procedure:
- Explain how to do the task, saying
Look at the pictures, find and circle the
words, please!
- Ask them to identify the
thing/animals, -Ss listen.
-Ask pupils to repeat the words several
times -Ss listen and answer
-Ss listen and repeat
- Ask pupils to look at the pictures and
circle the words in the chain.
-Ss do the task
- Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap
their work -Ss work in pairs
- Invite some pupils to show what they
have done. -Ss listen
- Praise them if they have done well,
saying You did very well! or Great job!
* Keys: sun, mouse, Mary, lemons
- Practice more at home.
- Prepare for the next lesson.

can see. Draw pupils’ attention to the
boxes next to the letters a and b.
Check comprehension.
- Invite some pupils to point to the
pictures and say the words in front of
the class, saying Point to the pictures

truck.
- Before playing the recording, say
Are you ready? OK, now listen and
tick, please! Play the recording twice
or more, if needed. Ask pupils to
listen and tick the correct boxes. Give

*Procedure:
- Have pupils look at Picture 1 and

other three pictures.
- Invite some pupils to point to the
pictures and say the words in front of
the class
- Draw pupils’ attention to the box
under Picture 1. Before playing the
recording, say Are you ready? Play
the first sentence and have pupils do -Ss look and say.
