WEEK 20 Monday, January 20th 2025 S: 1CT2; 1BT3; 1AT4 Period: 39 Unit 10: At the zoo Lesson 1: Listen and repeat, Poin and say, Fun corner A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - pronounce the sound of the letter M/m in isolation and in the words mango, monkey, mother and mouse correctly - Sound /M/m/ - Vocabulary: mango, monkey, mother and mouse - Skills: speaking and listening. 2. Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Know how to practise some sounds. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love learning English B. METHODS: - Work in pairs, work in groups, ask and answer. - Communicative approach, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practicing, prediction. C. TEACHING AIDS: - Teacher: Posters, laptop, pictures, textbook, lesson plan, TV or projector. - Students: Textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, school things. D. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Sing a song *Aims: to create a friendly and active atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: -Ss sing and do action -Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by asking the class to sing the song -SS open their book. in Unit 9, Lesson 3 and clap their hands - Have pupils open their books (saying Open the books, please!) and look at Unit 10, Lesson 1. Activity 1. 1. Listen and repeat: *Aims: Ss will be able to pronounce the sound of the letter M/m in -Look at the picture and listen. isolation and in the words mango, monkey, mother and mouse correctly. *Procedure: - Have pupils look at the picture and describe the picture. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task, if necessary. - Play the recording again and call a few pupils to say the sound of the letter M/m and the words mango, monkey, mother and mouse in front of the class, Activity 2 2. Point and say: *Aims: Ss will be able to point to the letter M/m, the person/thing/animals (mango, monkey, mother and mouse) in the picture, say the sound of the letter M/m, the words mango, monkey, mother and mouse. *Procedure: -Look at the picture and - Have pupils look at the picture describe. again. Ask them to describe the picture. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. -Ss point and say in front of - Have pupils work in pairs or in the class groups to look at the picture, point to the letter M/m, the person and thing/animals, say the sound of the letter and the words. Say Point to the Friday, picture and say, please! Go around January and offer help or correct 24th 2025 pronunciation, if necessary. C: 1CT1; - Invite a few pupils to point to the 1AT2; picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the 1BT3 class. Activity 3. *Play: Find the odd one out *Aims: Ss will be able to recognize which item is different from the others and say the word *Procedure: - Explain how to play the game, -Ss listen saying Now look at the flashcards/pictures, find the odd one out and say it, please! -Ss play game. - Divide the class into four groups. Put three cards/pictures on the board, one of which is obviously different from the others - Call the first group to go to the board. Ask the pupils to point to the odd one out in the first set of the flashcards/pictures. The pupil who points to the correct word (bag) then says it correctly gets one point for that group. If the pupil has difficulty, ask other pupils in the group to help him/her. - Put the flashcards/pictures on the board and continue the game in the same way with other groups -Ss listen. - Practice more at home. - Prepare for the next lesson. Period: 40 Unit 10: At the zoo Lesson 2: Listen and chant, Listen and tick, Look and trace A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - say the sound of the letter M/m and the words mango, monkey, mother and mouse in a chant. - recognize the words in different situations when listening. - trace the letter M/m and complete the words _____ango, _____other, _____onkey, _____ouse - Vocabulary: review - Skills: speaking, writing and listening. 2. Competences: - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. - Know how to practise some sounds. - Know how to chant exactly. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love learning English B. METHODS: - Work in pairs, work in groups, ask and answer. - Communicative approach, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practicing, prediction. C. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Check-up *Aims: to help ss remember the words that they have learn in lesson 1. *Procedure: - SS listen and answer - Ask the class to play Find the odd one out again, using the words in -SS open their book. Lesson 1, Unit 10 and those in the previous units. - Get pupils to open their books and look at Lesson 2 Activity 1. 3. Listen and chant *Aims: Ss will be able to say the sound of the letter C/c and the words car, cat, cake and cup in a chant *Procedure: -Ss look at the picture and - Have pupils look at the chant, answer saying Look at the chant, please!Draw pupils’ attention to the first verse and explain its meaning. Listen and tick: *Aims: Ss will be able to listen, recognize the words and tick the correct boxes. *Procedure: -Look at the picture and - Have pupils look at the pictures in describe. Question 1 and say what they can see. Draw pupils’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and b. - Invite some pupils to point to the pictures in Question 1 and say the words in front of the class. - Play the recording of the first sentence for pupils to listen -Point and say - Follow the same procedure with the pictures in Question 2. Play the -Ss listen and tick recording (several times if needed) for pupils to listen and tick the correct box. -Ss listen again and tick - Call a few pupils to the front of the class to point to the pictures and say what they have heard. -Ss say what have heard in *Keys: 1. a . 2. b front of the class Activity 3. 5. Look and trace: *Aims: Ss will be able to trace the letter M/m (upper case and lower case). *Procedure: - Have pupils look at the letter M (upper case) and m (lower case). - Ss listen Remind them how to trace it. - Ss trace the letter M/m - Give pupils time to trace the letter M/m independently. Then let pupils do the tracing. - Check the results of pupils’ tracing and give feedback. Ask pupils to work in pairs, swap and check their answers. Give pupils time to work. -Check in pairs. - Then have pupils look at the four pictures in the activity. Ask some questions to help them identify the -Ss complete the words person and things in the pictures Use the first picture as an example, ask pupils to look at it, guess what letter is missing and complete the word. -Ss show their work. - Give pupils time to complete the words independently. - Ask some pupils to show what they have done. 3. Homework. - Practice more at home. - Prepare for the next lesson. -SS listen.
