WEEK 22 Monday, February 22th 2021 S: 5AT4; C: 5BT2 Period 85 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 2: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about what a family member does in his/her free time. - Language focus: + Vocabularies: go camping, go shopping... + Sentence patterns: What does your ... do in his/her free time? He/She ... - Practice skill: Listening, speaking -Resources: Student’s book, pictures, tape B. Procedure. I. Warm up: Chatting T asks: What do you do in your free time? Ss answer: - Have Ss work in pairs. II. Look, Listen and repeat. - Tell pupils that they are going to read a story. Have them look at the pictures and guess what the story is about. Check their comprehension by pointing at each pictureto elicit their answer to the questions. - Have Ss to look at four pictures to discuss the context in which the language is used and ask them questions such as: Who are they? What are they talking about? - Play the recording a few times for Ss to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, poiting to the characters speaking. Ask a few pairs to role- play the conversation. - Write model sentence on the board. A: What does your she do in her free time? B: She goes shopping. - Ss listen and repeat again. (T – Ss, Ss –T, Ss – Ss, open pairs – close pairs) III. Point and say. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about accident prevention. - Have Ss look at the pictures to understand how the language is used. - Teach some vocabulary: go camping, go shopping... - Ask Ss to listen and repeat more times the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same produce with the rest of pictures. - Ss work in pairs. Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check Ss’ mistake when necessary. - Write the questions and answer on the board and Ss to repeat again. Ex: A: What does your ... do in his/her free time? B: He/She ... IV. Let’s talk. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering questions: - Do the task with two Ss. Put questions and answers on the board and do choral and individual repetition. - Ask them to work in pairs to prepare exchanges based on the questions provided. - Call on a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Ex: A: What does your ... do in his/her free time? B: He/She usually .. A: How often does he/she ..? B: .. every day/once/twice a week. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise - Have Ss do exercise D of unit 13 in workbook -T corrects and feedback VI. Homelink. - Learn by heart vocabulary and structure Monday, February 22th 2021 C: 5AT1; 5BT3 Period 86 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 2: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about what a family member does in his/her free time. -Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review -Practice skill: Listening, writing. -Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures. B. Procedure. I. Warm up. * Chatting - T asks some questions. - Ss answer. II. Listen and circle a,b or c. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen and circle a,b, or c to complete sentences. - Ask Ss to read sentences and try to guess the word to fill each gap. - Play the recording more than one for Ss to listen and complete the sentences. Do the task and check their answer. - Get Ss to swap their answers before you check as a class. - T gives feedback. *Answer: 1/ c 2/ a 3/ b 4/ c III. Write about what your family members do in their free time. - Tell Ss that they are going to write bout what your family members do in their free time. Have Ss read the questions then write the answering. - Have them work in pairs to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call some Ss to read their writing aloud. * Key: Answers vary. IV. Let’s sing. - Tell Ss that they are going to sing What do you do in your free time? song. - Get Ss to read line of the lyrics. Play the recording all the way through. - Ask Ss to do choral and individual repetition of the song line by line. - Ask a group of four to the front of the class to sing the song. - Have the class sing the song again and clap their hands to reinforce the activity. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise. - Have Ss do exercise E of unit 13 in workbook -T corrects and feedback VI. Homelink. -Learn by heart vocabulary and structure. Thursday, February 25th 2021 S: 5AT3; 5BT4 Period 87 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 3: (1,2,3) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to say sentences with the correct intornation. Listen and read for specific information. -Language focus: + Stress: sentences + Vocabularies: Review + Sentence patterns: - Phonetic: What do you do in your free time? – I surf the internet. What do they do in their free time? – They go camping. -Practice skill: Listening, writing and speaking chant. -Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures and tape. B. Procedures. I. Warm up: Sing - The class sing What do you do in your free time? song. II. Listen and repeat. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying questions and answers with the correct sentence stress - Put the sentences on the board. Play the recording and ask Ss to repeat a few times. - Play the recording a few times and let Ss say the words and phrases, paying attention to the target sounds. - Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds. Call Ss repeat again. III. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen to four sentences and underline the stressed words. - Play the recording more than once for Ss listen and circle the answers. - Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Ask Ss to read the sentences aloud. Key: 1.a 2.a 3. b 4.b IV. Let’s chant. - Tell Ss that they are going to do the chant: What do you do? - Have Ss to read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording more than once for Ss to listen. Ss do choral and individual repetition. - Show them how to chant and actions. Divide the class into three groups, each group singing one of the chant. - Call some pairs to the front of class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps the syllables. V. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise. - Have Ss do exercise A of unit 13 in workbook -T corrects and feedback VI. Homelink. - Learn by heart vocab & structure. Friday, February 26th 2021 S: 5AT1; 5BT2 Period 88 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 3: (4,5,6) A. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to practice reading and writing about what your family do at weekends. -Language focus: + Vocabularies: review + Sentence patterns: review -Practice skill: Reading, writing, speaking . -Resources: Student’s book, posters, pictures, tape. B. Procedure. I. Warm up. Let’s chant: What do you do? - Whose class chant II. Read and draw lines to match. - Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and match. - Ask Ss look at and read sentences first and then read the text and focus on the information they need to do the task. Ss work in pairs. - Give time to do the task independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Key: 1c 2a 3 b III. Write about what your family do at weekends. - Tell Ss that they are going to write bout what your family do at weekends. Have Ss read the informatons first, then write the answering. - Have them work in pairs to discuss what they are going to write. - Give time to do the task independently. - Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. - Call some Ss to read their writing aloud. Key: Answer vary. IV. Project. - Tell Ss that they are going to interviewtwo classmates about what they do in their free time - Ask them to work in groups. They should decide which accidents to select and discuss how to avoid them. - Give time limit for them to do the task. - Ss report the results of their interviews to the class. V. Colour the stars. - Have Ss read the statements and check their comprehension. - Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few pupils to read the statements aloud. - Give further support to Ss who find it difficult to achieve certain objectives. (- If there is not enough time, ask Ss to do it as homework.) VI. Reinforcement. * Do Exercise - Have Ss do exercise F of unit 13 in workbook -T corrects and feedback. VII. Homelink. - Learn by heart vocab & structure
