Period 47 UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO?
Lesson 1 (1, 2)
STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES
I. Objectives
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Ask and answer questions about someone's job.
- Sentence patterns: What does your______ do? − He's / She’s ______.
- Vocabulary: farmer, nurse, driver, factory
2. Skills.
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality:
- Live responsibly, Love family
- Confident in learning and practice situations
4. Forming competence:
- Self- study.
- Communication and co-operation.
B. Language focus
* Key terms: farmer, nurse, driver, factory
* Key grammatical structures
- Sentence Patterns: What does your______ do? − He's / She’s ______.
C. Instructional resources
- Textbook: Tiếng Anh4: Student’s book, CDs player, projectors, computer.
- Audio track: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks.
STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN
* Warm-up
- Have pupils play the game: Noughts and Crosses.
- Lead into new lesson
Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat
- Ask pupils to look at the picture and answer the questions
?Who are they?
? Where are they?
?What are they talking about? - Give the meaning of the new words: farmer, nurse, driver, factory
worker, student, job, interview; then say them aloud for pupils to repeat.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen to the tape
- Play the recording again and ask them to repeat a few times.
- Ask pupils to practice in pairs.
- Go round and check pupils can repeat and understand the dialogue.
- Check some pairs. Ask other pupils to give comments.
- Give comments.
Activity 2: Point and say
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions
about someone’s job, using:
* Structure: What does your ... do?
He’s/She’s a + (name of job).
- Ask pupils to write down the structure in their notebook.
- Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil.
- Tell pupils to practice in pairs, using the structure.
- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.
- Give feedback and correct mistakes of pronunciation.
C. Production
- Summary the lesson
- Tell pupils to read the part 1 again.
D. Homework
- Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words and the

Period 48 UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO?
Lesson 2 (1, 2,3)
STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES
A.Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Pupils can ask and answer questions about places to work.
- Sentence Patterns: Where does a ____ work? − A _____ works _____.
- Vocabulary: doctor, in a hospital / farmer, in a field / worker, in a factory /
clerk, in an office
2. Skills.
- Listening and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality:
- Live responsibly
- Love family
- Confident in learning and practice situations
4. Forming competence:
- Self- study.
- Communication and co-operation.

STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN
* Warm-up
- Greeting.
- Ask Ps to sing the song My family and do the actions
- Introduce the vocabulary (using the pictures on the media):
+ in a field
+ in a hospital
+ in a factory
+in an office
+ clerk
- Get Ps to listen and repeat a few times (whole class, in groups,
individuals). - Call on some Ps to read aloud the vocabulary.
Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.
- Tell Ps that they are going to learn to ask and answer questions about
working places.
- Ask Ps to look at the four pictures to identify the characters and the
context in which the language is used. Ask them questions such as Who are
they? Where are they? What are they doing?
- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen.
- Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat sentence by
sentence.
- Get Ps to work in pairs to role play the dialogue between Mai and Nam.
- Call on some pairs to demonstrate in front of the class. The rest of the
class observe and give comments.
- Check Ps’ comprehension about the dialogue by using some questions:
+ Where does a worker work?
+ Where does a farmer work?
Activity 2: Point and say.
- Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about working
places. Using: Where does a .work?
A .... works ..................
- Have Ps look at the bubbles to see how the questions and the answers are
used. Focus them on time of the day the activities happen.
- Point to the first picture and model the task with one pupil, using the
question in the first bubble and the phrase under the picture for the answer:
- Select some pairs of Ps to demonstrate the task in front of the class.
Activity 3: Let’s talk
- Tell Ps that they are going to revise what they have learnt in Lesson 1 and
Lesson 2, using What does your father do? And Where does he/she work?
- Ask Ps to work in pairs: one asks the questions and the other gives the
answers, using the facts about themselves. Then they swap roles.
- Get Ps to play the “pass the ball” game.
C. Production
- Select some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.
D. Homework

Period 49 UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO?
Lesson 3 (1, 2,3)
STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES
A.Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Pronounce the letter clusters ie in field and piece, and ea in teacher and
reading.
- Listen and circle the correct words. Then say the sentences with the
circled words.
- Say the chant Jobs and places of work.
- Sentence Patterns: Revision
- Vocabulary: Revision
2. Skills:
- Listening, writing and speaking.
3. Attitudes/ Quality:
- Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves.
- Studious and obedient students and love their family.
4. Forming competence:
- Communication and co-operation.
- Problem solving and creativity

STAGE 2: LEARNING EXPERIENCES / LEARNING PLAN
* Warm-up
- Play 2 videos about how to pronounce the sounds of ie and ea.
- Guide Ss to distinguish these sounds.
- Invite Ss to pronounce the sounds of ie and ea.
Activity 1: Listen and repeat.
- Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters ie in
the words field, piece, and ea in the words: teacher, reading.
respectively.
- Put the phonics letters ie and ea on the board and say them a few times. - Call on some Ps to say the words and sentences.
Activity 2: Listen and write. Then say aloud.
- Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the recording and circle the words.
- Give the class a few second to read the words in silence and guess the
words to circle
- Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen.
- Play the second time and ask Ss to do the task.
- Have Ss check their answers in pairs, then ask some Ss to report their
answer to the class.
- Gives the best answers.

- Ask Ss say sentences with the circled words:
- Call some Ss to say aloud in front of the class.
- Check and correct mistakes.
Activity 3: Let’s chant.
- Tell Ss that they are going to sing the chant “Jobs and places of work.”
- Give a few seconds for Ss to sing the chant. Check comprehension.
- Divide class into two groups: one group chants the questions and the other
chants the answers.
- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do the actions. The
rest of the class claps along to the rhythm.
- Get Ps to work in pairs to sing the new chant by replacing some phrases:
grandfather, grandmother, driver, cook, ...........
- Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again.
C. Production
- Retell the content of the lesson.
D. Homework
- Do exercises in the workbook. Learn by heart the new words and
structures
