Objectives: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to describe and talk about sports and entertainment II. Preparations: Textbook, pictures, cassette player. III. Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm -up (5’) - Have Ss play a game - Give Ss some pictures in 5 seconds - Have Ss write down name of sports in the pictures FOOTBALL BASKETBALL TABLE TENNIS TENNIS BADMINTON - Work in group - Look at the pictures quickly 2. Presentation (10’) + Activity 1: - Introduce some sports Skateboarding (n) roller-skating (n) roller balding + Activity 2: - Introduce the lesson - Name 10 sports which are the most popular that the young in America love to play Notes Sports: Baseball; Skateboarding; Roller – skating; Rollerblading; Basketball; Football; Tennis; Badminton; Swimming - Look at the pictures and guess the new words - Listen and take note - Guess the answer 3. Practice (15’) - Let students listen to the cassette twice. - Ask them to read by themselves - Call some students and ask them to tell the name of some sports listed/mentioned in the reading - Have some of the students do some actions illustrating some sports to attract their attention more then ask others to guess what they are - Listen to the tape and repeat. - Role play. 4. Production (12’) - Give Ss a hand out - Have Ss go around asking their friends: Which sports do you like best? - Call some students and ask them to say their number of students joining in each sports or liking each sports Which sports do you like best? Name Soccer volleyball Table tennis badminton …… - Go around to ask the questions 5. Homework (3’) - Rewrite A2 p 130.( Take a class survey ) - Answer the questions A1 / 130 - Prepare next lesson: Unit 13 – A3, 4 Take note IV.
