OBJECTIVES: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write a narrative paragraph by using a guided composition, review past simple tense. II. PREPARATIONS: Book III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) Chatting: - Ask Ss tell a story or an event in the past that they remember most. 2. Pre – Writing: (10’) - Set the scene:” Last week , while on vacation in DaLat the Jones family had quite an unforgettable adventure on XuanHuong Lake .What did they do and what happened to them?” - Explain some new words. + paddle (v) + canoe (n) + hire (v) + overturn (v) + rescue (v) + stumble (v) + realize (v) - Have Ss practice new words. - Checking vocabulary (Rub out and remember) - Review past simple tense 3. While – Writing: (10’) - Ask Ss to open the books and read the first part f the story on page 105 and rearrange the sentences. - Call some Ss to read the story aloud for the class and correct pronunciation errors. Answer key: c, ® a, ® g, ® d, ® f, ® b, ® e, - Ask Ss to look at the pictures part 2/ page 106 and rearrange the events in the correct chronological order to make it a story. - Give answer key: d,® b,® e, ® h, ® a, ® f, ® c, ® g, 4. Post – Writing: (18’) - Ask Ss to use the pictures already rearranged and the given words to write the story about Uyen - Monitor and help Ss with words or structures while they are writing. - After Ss finish, call some students to read their story aloud for the class. - Give the feedback and correct. d/ She had a math exam on Friday and she got up late. b/ She realized her alarm clock didn’t go off. e/ As she was leaving home, it started raining heavily. h/ Uyen tried to run as fast as she could. a/ Suddenly, she stumbled against a rock and fell. f/ Her schoolbag went into a pool and everything got wet. c/ Strangely, the rain stopped as she got to her classroom. g/ Luckily, Uyen had enough time to finish her exam. 5.
