UNIT 7
A. TỪ ĐỂ HỎI WH- WORDS
I. Chức năng của các từ để hỏi
Từ để hỏi: Chức năng (Nghĩa)
Ví dụ: What Hỏi thông tin (gì, cái gì) What is your name? (Tên bạn là gì?)
When/What time Hỏi thời gian (When: khi nào, bao giờ/What time: mấy giờ)
- When were you born? (Bạn sinh ra khi nào?)
- What time did you leave home yesterday? (Hôm qua bạn rời khỏi nhà lúc mấy giờ?)
Where Hỏi nơi chốn (ở đâu) Where do you live? (Bạn sống ở đâu?)
Which Hỏi lựa chọn (cái nào, người nào) Which color do you like? (Bạn thích màu nào?)
Who: Hỏi người (làm chủ ngữ) Who opened the door? (Ai đã mở cửa ra vậy?)
How: Hỏi cách thức (như thế nào) How does this work? (Cái này hoạt động như thế nào?)
How + adj
- How far: Hỏi khoảng cách (bao xa)
- How long: Hỏi độ dài về thời gian (bao lâu)
- How much/ many : Hỏi số lượng
- How far is Hai Phong from Hanoi? (Khoảng cách từ Hải Phòng đến Hà Nội là bao xa?)
- How long will it take to fix my car? (Sẽ mất bao lâu để sửa cái ô tô của tôi?)
- How many cars are there? (Có bao nhiêu chiếc ô tô?)
II. Cấu trúc đặt câu hổi với từ để hỏi.
a. Who/ What
- Khi muốn biết chủ ngữ hay chủ thể của hành động là ai/ cái gì, ta đặt câu hỏi chủ ngữ. Với dạng
câu hỏi này, ta không cần sử dụng trợ động từ:
What/ Who + V+ ?
Ví dụ: Who lives in London with Daisy? (Ai sống ở London với Daisy?)
What happened? (Chuyện gì xảy ra vậy?)
- Khi muốn biết tân ngữ hay vật/ người chịu tác động, ta đặt câu hỏi tân ngữ. Với dạng câu hỏi
này, ta cần sử dụng trợ động từ và Who được thay thế bằng Whom
What/ Whom + trợ động từ (be, do, does, did, can, will, ) + S + V?
Ví dụ: Whom do you go to school with every day? (Ai đi học với bạn hàng ngày?)
What does she eat in the morning? (Cô ấy ăn gì vào bữa sáng?)
b. Các từ để hỏi còn lại.
Wh- word + trợ động từ (be, do, does, did, can, will, ) + S + V?
Ví dụ: Where do they live? (Họ sống ở đâu?)
What are you doing? (Bạn đang làm gì thế?)
What should I do? (Tôi nên làm gì?)
B. LIÊN TỪ.
I. Định nghĩa liên từ.
Conjunction có nghĩa là liên từ được dùng để liên kết hai từ, cụm từ hoặc liên kết hai mệnh đề lại
với nhau.
Ví dụ: She is beautiful and kind. (Cô ấy xinh đẹp và tốt bụng.)
Because I wake up late, I am late for school. (Bởi vì tôi thức dậy muộn, tôi bị trễ học.)
II. Liên từ "and".
and (và): dùng để thêm thông tin vào câu nói
Ví dụ: - My hobbies are playing soccer and listening to music.
(Sở thích của tôi là chơi bóng đá và nghe nhạc)

- I love eating Pho and noodles. (Tôi thích ăn phở và mì.)
III. Liên từ "but".
but (nhưng): dùng để nêu lên hai thông tin đối ngược nhau
Ví dụ: - I want other car but I have no money. (Tôi muốn cái xe khác nhưng tôi không có tiền.)
- She is poor but she is always happy. (Cô ấy nghèo nhưng luôn vui vẻ.)
IV. Liên từ "or".
or (hoặc): dùng để giới thiệu một khả năng khác hoặc một lựa chọn khác
Ví dụ: - Would you like tea or coffee? (Bạn muốn trà hay cà phê?)
- In my free time, I often play video games or watch cartoons.
(Vào thời gian rảnh, tôi thường chơi điện tử hoặc xem phim hoạt hình.)
V. Liên từ "so".
so (do đó, cho nên, vì vậy): dùng để chỉ kết quả, hệ quả, phía trước “so” luôn có dấu phẩy ngăn
cách.
Ví dụ: - It’s raining, so I’ll stay home and read. (Trời đang mưa, nên tôi sẽ ở nhà và đọc sách.)
- I woke up late this morning so I can’t go to school on time.
(Tôi dậy muộn sáng nay nên tôi không thể đến đúng giờ.)
VI. Liên từ "because".
because (bởi vì): dùng để chỉ nguyên nhân, luôn đứng trước mệnh đề phụ thuộc
Ví dụ: - I failed my exam because I didn’t study.(Tôi rớt bài kiểm tra vì tôi không học bài.)
- I want to buy some flowers because today is my mom’s birthday.
(Tôi muốn mua một vài bông hoa vì hôm nay là sinh nhật của mẹ tôi.)
UNIT 8.
A. THÌ QUÁ KHƯ ĐƠN (THE PAST SIMPLE).
I. Cấu trúc với động từ "to be"
Động từ “to be” ở thì quá khứ đơn có hai dạng là “was” và “were”.
1. Khẳng định: S + was/ were +
2. Phủ định: S + was/were + not + - was not = wasn’t/ were not = weren’t
Đối với câu phủ định ta chỉ cần thêm “not” vào sau động từ “to be”.
CHÚ Ý:
S = I/ He/ She/ It (số ít) + was
S = We/ You/ They (số nhiều) + were
3. Câu hỏi: Were/ Was + S ?
Yes, I/ he/ she/ it + was. – No, I/ he/ she/ it + wasn’t.
Yes, we/ you/ they + were. – No, we/ you/ they + weren’t.
Câu hỏi ta chỉ cần đảo động từ “to be” lên trước chủ ngữ
II. Cấu trúc với động từ thường
1. Khẳng định: S + V-ed
2. Phủ định: S + did not + V (nguyên thể)
Trong thì quá khứ đơn câu phủ định ta mượn trợ động từ “did + not” (viết tắt là “didn’t), động từ
theo sau ở dạng nguyên thể.)
3. Câu hỏi: Did + S + V (nguyên thể)?
III. Cách sử dụng thì quá khứ đơn.
Dùng để diễn tả một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.
IV. Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì quá khứ đơn.
Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian trong quá khứ:
- yesterday: hôm qua
- last night/ last week/ last month/ last year: tối qua/ tuần trước/ tháng trước/ năm ngoái
- ago: cách đây (two hours ago: cách đây 2 giờ/ two weeks ago: cách đây 2 tuần )
- when: khi (trong câu kể)

V. Cách chia động từ thường ở quá khứ đơn
1. Ta thêm “-ed” vào sau động từ có quy tắc:
Thông thường ta thêm “ed” vào sau động từ.
Ví dụ: watch – watched, turn – turned, want – wanted
*** Chú ý khi thêm đuôi “-ed” vào sau động từ:
+ Động từ tận cùng là “e” -> ta chỉ cần cộng thêm “d”.
Ví dụ: type – typed, smile – smiled, agree – agreed
+ Động từ có MỘT âm tiết, tận cùng là MỘT phụ âm, trước phụ âm là MỘT nguyên âm -> ta
nhân đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm “-ed”.
Ví dụ: stop – stopped, shop – shopped, tap – tapped
+ Động từ tận cùng là “y”:
Nếu trước “y” là MỘT nguyên âm (a,e,i,o,u) ta cộng thêm “ed”.
Ví dụ: play – played, stay - stayed
Nếu trước “y” là phụ âm (còn lại) ta đổi “y” thành “i + ed”.
Ví dụ: study – studied, cry - cried
2. Một số động từ bất quy tắc không thêm “ed”.
Có một số động từ khi sử dụng ở thì quá khứ không theo quy tắc thêm “ed”. Những động từ này
ta cần học thuộc ở cột thứ 2 theo bảng động từ bất quy tắc.
B. CÂU MỆNH LỆNH.
I. Dạng khẳng định: V (nguyên thể)!
Khi muốn người nghe thực hiện một hành động nào đó, chúng ta dùng một động từ nguyên
thể mà không cần chủ ngữ. Dạng câu này là phổ biến nhất trong các dạng câu yêu cầu, mệnh lệnh
và thường được lên giọng ở cuối câu.
II. Dạng phủ định:
Đây là dạng tương tự như câu yêu cầu thông dụng với động từ nguyên thể, nhưng người nói
không muốn người nghe làm điều gì đó.
Công thức chung: Do not/ Don’t + V nguyên thể
UNIT 9.
A. ĐẠI TỪ SỞ HỮU
I. Định nghĩa đại từ sở hữu
Đại từ sở hữu là những đại từ để chỉ sự sở hữu và được sử dụng thường xuyên nhằm tránh sự lặp
từ ỏ những câu phía trước.
II. Cách sử dụng đại từ sở hữu
Người ta dùng đại từ sở hữu để tránh không phải nhắc lại tính từ sở hữu + danh từ đã đề cập trước
đó.
Cụ thể:
- mine (cái... của tôi) = my + danh từ
- yours (cái của (các) bạn) = your + danh từ
B. TÍNH TỪ SỞ HỮU.
I. Định nghĩa tính từ sở hữu.
Tính từ sở hữu thể hiện tính chất sở hữu của người hoặc vật với danh từ đi sau nó. Tính từ sở hữu
tùy thuộc chủ sở hữu.
Các tính từ sở hữu luôn đi trước danh từ mà nó sở hữu và các danh từ này không có mạo từ đi
theo.
Ví dụ: - my mother (mẹ của tôi)
- his work (công việc của anh ta)
- our office (cơ quan của chúng tôi)
- your good friend (người bạn tốt của bạn)
II. Cách sử dụng tính từ sở hữu.
Tính từ sở hữu được dùng để chỉ một người hay vật thuộc về một ngôi nào đó. Khái niệm "thuộc
về" ở đây phải được hiểu với nghĩa rất rộng.

Khi nói "my car" ta có thể hiểu chiếc xe thuộc về tôi, nhưng khi nói "my uncle" thì không thể
hiểu một cách cứng nhắc rằng ông chú ấy thuộc về tôi.
Tính từ sở hữu trong tiếng Anh lệ thuộc vào người làm chủ chứ không thay đổi theo số lượng của
vật bị sở hữu.

Tran Hieu Ngan is a Taekwondo athlete. She participated in the 2000 Sydney Summer
Olympics where she won the silver medal. It was the only medal won by a Vietnamese during

Watching television is an interesting and fun activity. The first television broadcast in
Australia was in 1956. Back then, the pictures on a TV were black and white only. Television has
changed a lot since then.. There are several channels and they show different TV programmes. In
